Why the Germans should have excepted any mercy, when they imposed on Russia an even harsher treaty ?

So can you quantify harsher peace treaty? Was Imperial Russia force to take the enternal blame for starting WW1 becuse they did mobilize first? Did Russia lose all there colonies? Yes they did... it called Panzer IV... and was the most produced tank in Germany.... but that was a losing tactics... becuse Germany was so heavily outnumbered, hence the need to do somthing stupid crazy like super-heavy tanks...

The Panzer IV was outgunned by French tanks in 1940...

People that think German tanks were engineering marvels probably look at the Maus and think it was amazing.

In fairness German tanks were engineering marvels, if you've ever seen one at a museum near inferior allied tanks it makes it even more obvious, but that in itself is the problem. Their main failing was lack of production, it doesn't matter how amazing a tank is if it's surrounded by a dozen piece of **** T-34s or Shermans.

The irony is the Germans knew that, they exploited it in the early days of the war, defeating superior French tanks with superior numbers of **** tanks. And yet as the war progressed they just couldn't bring themselves to compromise on their designs in order to maximize production rates or aid maintenance/reliability. All they had to do was concentrate on mass producing the Pz IV instead of wasting resources on the Tiger II, E-100, Maus, etc and they could have easily fended off the D day invasion.

They really weren't engineering marvels though. Nothing about any of the German tanks couldn't be replicated by America or Russia. They both had better designs than what the Germans used, some were used like the IS2 and T-44, some were abandoned like the M6 and T29/T30. The Panther, Tiger, Tiger II, and all the offshoots from them like the Jagdpanther, Elefant, and Jagdtiger would of failed trials and abandoned by any other nation (except maybe Britain) because of how unreliable they were and for the most part not needed. No one but Germany would even attempt to make something as dumb as the Maus.

When you make a Panther with all the Panthers flaws fixed you end up with the Centurion. Reliable engine and transmission that are easy to repair and already in service with other tanks and the air force so spare parts were plenty. A normal non overlapped wheel suspension so maintenance again wasn't terrible to perform. The biggest one, (which was one of the main issues with previous British tanks too for reasons I wont go into now), it had a gigantic turret ring capable of fitting a massive turret and much bigger guns later in life.


By technical specs only the German tanks did look like they were great, but by technical specs only the T29/T30, and M6 were better than their respective counterparts. T29/T30 never made it past trials and M6 wasn't ever actually used in battle. If you want to get into actual engineering not just armor thickness and big gun the Sherman had quite a few things more advanced than German tanks used.
