Some people clearly didn't read the article. His wife is a citizen, his kids are citizens. He tried to get to legal but the immigration system is a mess. The courts didnt think he was too much of a risk or they wouldve forcibly removed him. As far we know his only crime is that he overstayed his visa.

Overstaying is unlawful but not a criminal offense, not that some people understand the difference. A working man married to a citizen thats also father to two citizens shouldnt be caught up in the system or treated like a foreign invader.

Pretty much this. It can take a substantial amount of time and ruinous amounts of money to legally become a citizen, during which time people put down roots, build a life, and contribute to the community.

At which point the gestapo come along and ruin all that because the real crime is offending ignorant voters in red America.

As a legal immigrant, gotta say I feel pretty entitled to have an opinion on the subject. The time and money that I put into the process isn't remotely devalued by people "skipping the queue", but then again I'm not a sociopath.

I do take issue. The system is slow and punishes otherwise law abiding people. And I didnt say he had the right to be here, I said its unfortunate and criticized the system. He broke a law but the law is broken.
