Winners write history. If the south won, there probably wouldn't be anything named after presidents from the North.

Why do you conflate "not honoring confederate heroes" with "trying to erase history?"
Naming a school after a confederate general is considered an "honor." They can teach all about how he was a traitor to the United States in that school without it being named after him.

First of all, history isn't being erased. If not meaning that the elementary was the only tie to this Confederate general and no other history exist about him...
Also, isn't it historical that their new name is after the first black presidant?
Or is it only history when it comes to Confederate traitors?
Peace is a lie. There is only passion. Through passion I gain strength. Through strength I gain power.
Through power I gain victory. Through victory my chains are broken. The Force shall set me free.

George Washington and Thomas Jefferson owned slaves, yet they are heroes. What's your point?
On topic. These people are heroes to their people, and continue to be. Being on the losing side of a war doesn't make them less worthy to their people.

Well, it looks like we've found another apologist for slavery.
The Confederates didn't fight to defend slavery in particular, 99% of them didn't even own slaves. They fought so that Washington doesn't destroy their economy and their way of life.
The men who died did it for a noble goal, and just because winners write the history, doesn't mean they were bad men.
Their economy was slavery, the Civil War was primarily about slavery. If you don't believe me, believe those who seceded.

They sure as shit believed it was about slavery. But hey, keep defending slavery, it's adorable.
False. Census data from 1860 shows that approximately 32% of the white population in the states that would become the Confederacy owned at least one slave.

Anyone who owned 20 or more slaves was exempt from military conscription.
Their "way of life" was owning slaves and the general repression of black people. Their economy was built on it.
We live in the United States, not the confederacy. They were traitors to the United States whose desire to perpetuate the ownership of human beings as property lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of loyal Americans.
They do NOT need to be honored. As a matter of fact, at best they should be seen as a warning for what happens when you put pride above what is right.
