Why are healers able to hold their own in a 1v1 scenario against a dps spec? Is it normal? Or are some dps spec weaker than others when it comes at killing healers?

If a healer is expected to keep other players alive when more than one DPS is on them, such as in an Arena situation, then they HAVE to be able to protect themselves against 1 DPS. They shouldn't, in most cases of equal gear/level/skill, be able to kill the DPS, but they should be pretty much invincible against them, otherwise there's no point to them at all in PVP.
Because pvp balance was always focused around 3v3. Healer must be able to survive 2dps longer than just 10 seconds.
If 1 dps will one-shot healers 3v3 bracket will become unplayable.
In order to counter it in 2v2 we start games with dampening.
Casual pvp? Well... It's casual, lower priority
Meaning in open world pvp, healers are unkillable meaning a lot of ppl will run that kind of setup making it unenjoyable. I thought Blizzard gave this a lot more of thoughts. They design bfa around open world pvp and let some spec be invincible? What a joke.
They're not "invincible" just take more time to kill than normal. DPS don't have as much self healing compared to a healer, hence why they are dps and not healers. You just have to interrupt them through their big heals and they die just fine. It's like in any pvp content you have to use your control abilities not just straight up spam your dps rotation like in pve.
Because the only way to make PVE content challenging is to make shit damn near blow you to pieces in a matter of seconds. Which means healers have to be able to heal that within a matter of seconds. PVP is designed around 3v3 since that seems to be the only bracket that gets viewship and thus all that matters to Blizzard. 2 or 3 DPS tunneling hard and interupting correctly can easily beat a healer thats out of position or not getting support. So it works.
If a healer wouldn't be able to compete 1 vs 1, then nobody would bring halers to any pvp situation, arenas, bgs or wpvp. Thus, a setup with a healer has to be superior to a pure dps one, so healers have to be able to outheal 1 dps.
Im sorry, i have yet to find a healer that is invincible right now 1v1. As Blood DK and Assassination Rogue specs, i have killed every heal spec i have encountered 1v1 (not encountered a Monk healer yet in WPVP). Use your tools, fatigue them, learn to recognize their CDs so you can save your pressure for outside of them, Profit. It takes longer to kill a healer (as it should) but they are far from invincible if you have an ounce of awareness of their spec.
We live in an era of "me versus them", an era where something is done that you don't like means you are personally attacked. People whine too much.
Let us play video games and be happy.
Why should they be superior? Why not just equal, but different playstyle? That way they'd be brought but wouldn't be necessary.

Most healers have pretty good DPS these days, coupled with a lot better healing. You beat a healer by severely outplaying them, not by being stronger. It's kind of like beating a player 10+ levels above you (which is not at all impossible in the prepatch, but harder).
Why shouldn't a healer be able to kill a dps class, if they're a better player? That's like saying someone with a knife in counter-strike shouldn't be able to kill someone with an AK-47, and yet it happens pretty frequently when you catch them off guard. Support in basically any game can beat a non-support player, if they get outplayed.
A good dps will beat a healer 1v1... If you're not beating healers 1v1, well... News flash.
Oh cool, you're bad at the game.
