Runescape - You will just get called a "Noob" every time you do something, extremely annoying.

World of Warcraft - I was in a guild and I fought with the leader/teammember because I had a higher GS than some of the player, my dps was not higher than them, then I think some players in that guild also harassed me ? One day I got a high level trinket because I rolled 100, then some player was also jealous of that, then the low things keep going on, so I got kicked in the end, I move on and went into a new guild

(laptop was kinda not designed for gaming, but still, it was just rude)

League of Legends - Yeah it was a absolutely a shit fest I don't even want to talk about it.

I can mentally handle all those things, those games are fun, but yeah I mean like any competitive games I played there is toxic player base.

Dota 2 and League of Legends. MOBA communities are stage 4 pancreatic cancer compared to everything else.
Populists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.

"toxic" is just a propaganda tool for regressives to infect and censor gaming like they're trying to do anywhere else.

i'd much prefer to laugh at someone calling me every name under the sun than live in happy sunnyville where nobody can speak their mind.

Lootbox defenders are the most toxic players in any game or forum.
    Don't sweat the details!!!

For me the worst one was Heroes of Newerth, followed closely by DOTA2

    For Honor is up there.

Early Wildstar. They decided to appeal to hardcore players, who's like a vocal minority, so they decided to create an mmo with extremely hard difficulty, attunements, etc. Worst of all were dungeons, that had MEDALS. Do it with gold medal and you'll get extra loot, so in the end parties were simply disbanding as soon as medal was ruined, new players couldn't learn and were basically pushed out of the game. Now it's dead and getting shut down for good soon, which is a damn shame, because the game was really good overall, with absolutely amazing housing.

IMHO toxicity levels in games has a direct correlation to how much they cater to the "lowest common denominator" consumer. If its designed to be so easy an 8 year old can play it, then you're gonna find a lot of people "acting like 8 year olds". Especially if there is no accountability. I don't agree with censorship either, but on a certain level if some players are only using the game as a stress-reliever by way of taking it out on others IN the game rather than ON the game, there need to be consequences to being a total shitstain for no reason.

Used to be the answer to that was dedicated servers, but since companies don't want to allow that anymore, it means accountability is low and the little there is tends to involve a of effort to enforce. Be a shitstain on a dedicated server somewhere? Admin reads the console log and immediately permabans you. Be a shitstain in a modern online game? File report after report and have to include your own screenshots and logs and it enters some queue then maybe a month from now the person will get a slap on the wrist for 3 days. Or like with TF2: They get kicked from the server and just queue up for the next one to be an asshole in.

Tera had a pretty lame community when I last played it.

Have played every CoD games and Battlefield game out there, and yes there is toxicity in those games, but Overwatch is the one game that had me truly shake my head at the level and degree of toxic behavior. I originally (back in season 3) placed Gold, and thought "Just get me out of here, there's got to be less toxicity in higher ranks.", I since then climbed my way up to masters, and I quickly realized I was very wrong, I took a break from that game last christmas, don't think I'll jump back into it again.

I had a similar experience with Overwatch as you did. On top of that, I was watching Overwatch League every stream and really burnt myself out on the game. The community is truly the worst part. Incredibly toxic, even the “pro” players.

I’ve been playing a lot of Rainbow Six Siege, and it’s whetted my appetite for multiplayer FPSes, a genre I’ve never been very into. I decided to give CSGO a try. Whoa, huge mistake. Every single game is just insults and vote kicks. Can’t even learn because everyone is mad at you for not being an expert even in the casual queue.

I was actually surprised when watching Owl and many of the pro's, foolishly thinking they would represent a more professional behavior, but hoo was I wrong.

First MMO I played was Star Wars Galaxies. I got stuck very early on and spent a couple of hours asking for help. Not a single reply. I'm sure people carrying on like that helped keep the game going...

Same thing happened in WOW on launch, except someone rode down on their mount to give me a hand.

DayZ deserves an honourable mention for all the people that insist it didn't used to be a PVP game "back in the day" despite you having played it for a year before they even heard of it....

You know what. I changed my mind. It's WoW hands down.

People fucking screaming for a dev to be fired over a tweet that was in no way aimed at the WoW community. Fucking atrocious.
