Putting the OK symbol on the back of your head or your thigh certainly is something I've never seen before until the internet decided to start telling reich wingers to start flashing it to trigger liberals.
I gave it the benefit of the doubt that it could be coincidence, but there's becoming more and more people caught flashing this symbol for brief moments on weird spots of their body. As I said, maybe when it happens enough you'll stop coming up with whiny little bitch excuses.
2014 Gamergate: "If you want games without hyper sexualized female characters and representation, then learn to code!"
2023: "What's with all these massively successful games with ugly (realistic) women? How could this have happened?!"
That you think context is "nonsense" is exactly the willful ignorance I'm talking about. Repeatedly expressing it doesn't help you.
You're using "context" incorrectly. I'm starting to think you have no understanding of what the word means. No such woman is relevant to this Coast Guard guy and what he did. By constantly referring to her (and I don't even know who you're talking about), you're attacking a straw man and trying to derail the discussion.Again, the last context for "OMG DIS IS A NAZI SIGN" was a Mexican Jewish woman. Which makes it that much more delightful that there is a panic based on conspiracies.

You talking about that? Something that wasn't ran by any reputable news source? Something where pretty much everyone universally said no that isn't the nazi sign in that thread?
MMO-Champ the place where calling out trolls get you into more trouble than trolling.
You gotta watch the video man, he sees the interview and flashes the symbol. He does not lean on his hand or scratch his head. Problem is that half the people in this country refuse to believe racism is still here. They are making a come back in this country, the KKK isn't dead, skinheads are getting stronger. They just do a better job of hiding who they are. They traded in the hoods for suits.
Do you have anything better than a "NO U!" response? I mean at least whine about Clinton's emails, Benghazi, child sex ring, assassinations, or some other conspiracy that you refused to let go as being impossible at being just a coincidence.
That's what makes me giggle about this whole thing. All of the people who latched onto every Clinton conspiracy and refused to let go and refused to even consider that there were coincidences are shitting their pants that this is probably just coincidence. Their lack of self awareness is fucking hilarious.

When every single person around you is telling you that you don't know what something means, maybe it's time to stop being so cocksure, and self-reflect. But I realize admitting you're wrong is something that is physically impossible for you.

I think you just hit the nail of the head. The only two groups of people who think that the Ok sign is a white supremacy symbol are the lunatic left and shitlords who know they think that and are trolling them. I would bet that is you asked people on the street if the Ok sign was a white supremacy symbol then 99 out of a hundred would be like 'What the fuck are you talking about?'
Do you also think milk is a a white supremacy symbol? The Peace Sign is transphobic? The list seems to go on and on from the shitlords from 4chan.
It's not a "white power" symbol.
Those aren't mutually exclusive. Just sayin'.
If we're going to point out context, shouldn't we discern the actual context? After all, the only one who knows why he mage the gesture is him and his intent is what determines the context. So if he made it because he thinks it's a "white power" symbol, he's a racist cunt. If he did it to other people who think it's a "white power" symbol, that's pretty funny. Fuck them.
The problem with that kind of statement is that, if any white-power advocates ever use such a symbol as a dog whistle, it's a white power symbol. It doesn't matter if there are other uses of the symbol. Symbols can, and do, have multiple uses. The swastika still has meaning in several cultures that is not altered by the use of the symbol by the Nazi Reich, though that use is so well-known and so heinous that it's become the standard assumption absent any other context. But that doesn't mean a Hindu or Jain temple is a Nazi establishment.
Because context matters. Context is how we determine the meaning of any symbol.
It is not a "white power" symbol by default. It only becomes such if that type of a person uses it believing that it is and then only for that occasion. But yes, context matters. And, as I said, context is determined by intent, so only the guy who made the symbol can shed light on that. Until such a time that it's shown that it was the guy's intent, it's not a "white power" symbol. And the reason that I said that it's not is because its origin as such was a meme, ie, a joke. That people are taking it seriously exposes just how fucking stupid society has become.

At least there is some common sense left here. Can we send some to NBC?
I have been chosen by the big metal hand in the sky!
Yeah but the trouble is that 99% of the world don't care if a bunch of lunatics deem a perfectly normal hand gesture to be a symbol of white supremacy. We are just amazed that such people exist. The only time that people like you care about context is to give a pass to people on your side who use it and use it as a weapon against people you don't like.
You people are getting pretty scary. You think it is great to punch the nazis and then come up with more and more innocuous things to use to lable people nazis. THAT GUY DID AN OK SING!! *punch him in the face* then take the moral high ground.
