1) The original console was pretty gigantic and had a disc holder space WAY larger than it needed to be to hold a CD. So it's conceivable that a smaller console would still be big enough to have CD reading capabilities.
2) The announcement doesn't explicitly say it doesn't have one.
3) No need to be a dick about it, you could just point in the direction that provides the information and let us figure out we're stupid on our own =)
I've never been big on the "Classic" console craze. I think that's mostly because I still have most of my old consoles and game collections, and for the most part, I have the tools/parts/know how to fix them when they break. So the "Classic" ones don't offer me anything new aside from portability (and Star Fox 2, which is the only reason I've considered an SNES Classic).

Good iteration for the 1st party retro console market. Can't see how anyone could be against it if they were for the Nintendo retros.
Of course theres cheaper ways to get the games but these things are cool for say adults who just want to plug and play or relive the retro days with their kids. I remember when I was young my mom would bust out the old Atari every once in awhile just to relive the experience.
People buy these things for optics more than anything.
Resident Cosplay Progressive
When the Wii U shop was around, you could get Earthbound from it though.
Well, the physical version at least. But it also had a previously unreleased title to help sell it too.
Wouldn't be the first time Sony copied Nintendo.
The announcement video does state specifically that the Open button changes the virtual disc, so I would presume that implies it won't be able to.
On Topic: Here's hoping they manage to get THPS1 and/or 2 for this (iirc the license expired, so it is in doubt). Legend of the Dragoon would be nice too, but that one may be more obscure. (EDIT: One of the early Twisted Metal games will probably appear too.)
If something like this interests you Google Raspberry Pi and Retroarch together.
No silent hill
no resident evil 1-2-3
no dino crysis 1-2
no FF games
no Metal gear
Why even buy ?
Metal Gear is going to be rough without the dualshock, but this is a pretty weak library imo. Glad Syphon Filter made the cut though.
I forgot i even bought this lol
They already said you can't put your own games in there.
Thought so. I guess the parts just to build a proper PS1 or even scale the parts down is just too much effort these days.
Wouldn't hurt to have 10 more games on it though. I mean Crash should definitely be on it, Silent Hill, Dino Crisis, Legend of Dragoon and a few others.
I'm genuinely shocked Gran Turismo isn't on there though. It was the best selling PS1 game and arguably the best.
