All of this is just to mask the actual problem in South Africa. Rife corruption and cronyism. The current grant scheme is not sustainable and government knows this. You cannot have 10% of the population carry the rest. They need to find a way to quickly get people sustainable to the point where they can feed themselves, cause once that 10% gets fed up and stops paying taxes, the country burns down in a week. So many millions upon millions are dependent on their social grant that within 30 days 60% of this population will die of hunger. It is all a balancing act. Tribalism will also play its part, all the tribes in Safrica are shit scared of the Zulu's. Heck, all of Africa is scared of them. King Zwelithini sits on millions of acres of land that is unused, they threatened to take land and the King said, come, we will make war... all of a sudden they agreed that they dont want that land, just the rest. Like a circus playing out at the moment.
On a side note, they want to give away unused agricultural land, but when they asked the population what they wanted, most said they want a house in the city. They will just sell the land they get. When asked if they want money or land, the vast majority just said give us money. It is all about short term solutions. That is why it wont work...
