Question Is offering UI/weakaura for twitch subs against ToS?

I know it's none of my business but I am curious.

How do you "offer" addons? They're free.

He means the actual weakauras and UI settings, not the addons themselves.

If you mean giving away yoour UI setup for free, then no, not against the ToS. You can find thousands of UI's up for grabs. It is against the ToS to sell them.

Providing the settings they use as incentive to subscribe is probably OK. It's a little murky but assuming they put their own work into making their UI's look good and functional they can likely use that as incentive. It's not the same as selling add-ons.

It's a little desperate on both sides of the transaction though.

I can get behind this statement. It doesn't sound illegal but the saying I love in these kinds of situations: "Just beacuse you could, doesn't mean you should."

Also I'd sub just to get the settings to pirate them!

For me it's the difference between having a nice-looking functional UI that you have no clue about how it actually works versus having a functional but perhaps not-as-nice looking UI that you built yourself and understand everything going on in it. That's not perhaps so important for everyone but given how often add-ons need to change it's better to know than not.

No you can't. You don't buy the UI, you buy a twitch subscription from the person. The fact that there is an UI/WA included in the sub has nothing to do with Blizzard or the game itself.

    1. No because Blizzard doesn't own the addon.

    2. What they have behind the paywall is their personal settings that they did the work to create, the basic addons are still available without subbing to those channels as far as I know.
