    Momentum dead?

I don't see any momentum builds used currently, so doesn't it scale very well or is the minimal DPS gain just not worth it?

    It's pretty minimal overall

It is not actually dead since it does the most damage when exetuded properly but in m+ it is not practical to use given how bloated dungeons are with trash and chances of adding are very high. In Uldir it's 50/50. On some bosses you can and should use it and on some you can't.

Momentum is fine number wise but its simply not worth using. It doesnt provide any substantial gain ST but the ST momentum build is weaker for AoE. The AoE momentum build in reverse suffers in ST comapred to demonic and demonic overall provides you with tons of selfheal which makes it very practical while on the toher hand momentum eats your mobility skills and is in some dungeons and some raid encounters simply inconvenient to use.

If you want to play it it is totally fine, as the numbers are there, but its usually just not worth it when taking into account using up mobility while giving up tons of sustain.
Demonic is jsut the more flexible all-rounder atm without being really inferior throughput wise.

I think A few facts killed momentum:
1, the buff is too long, yet damage increase is small. The original idea of momentum is to storage fury while buff is off and dump fury while buff is on, now 6s is too long to dump fury, usually you will need to press demon bite during momentum buff. When not take nemesis than?
2, with bloodlet gone, you will waste a gcd after using fel rush when engaging small hit box. Or rely on unstable felblade proc.
3, auto attack damage is too much to ignore in the expansion, momentum play style will lose autohit uptime
4, loss of AotHG. Not enough fury to keep pressing chaos strike even in meta.

I'd argue against even trying to use momentum in Uldir. There is just no reason to. Honestly, the only fight you might would try it on is Zul, but Demonic is just plain easier. Heck, I don't even think there are more than 2 or 3 ranked momentum parses for that fight, and I doubt there are any in the top 50.

It's not dead dude, it's just annoyingly hard to play while doing most dps. Tbh, that is exactly what every pseudo world 10 DH asked for during Legion. Make it hard to play and let it deal most dmg. Here we are now and now most ppl call it dead even though it is exactly what was asked for.

Dead? Not really, according to sims it's slightly worse than demonic. But if it doesn't outperform demonic by much there's really no reason to grab it over it. With demonic you have better self healing, better aoe and you have fel rush ready whenever needed while with momentum you have to plan to have charges ready which if you need to use it to dodge stuff you're losing time on the buff. And to me at least it feels annoying having to felrush all over the place all the time.
    PVP is a different story.

Thanks for your replys, hope they add a third spec for us in future, demonic isn't as fun as it was and gets boring for me unfortunately.

It's not dead, just allot harder to execute. Demonic is not that far behind and is far more simple, less likely to get you killed, allows you to use movement when its needed rather than for dps. Demonic in general is just more nice to play/less risky. (at least i think so)

Nailed it. The reward(~2% DPS if executed perfectly) is simply not worth the risk(massive DPS loss, less self-healing, less mobility, accidental pulls, accidentally rushing into one-shot mechanics).

The minute DPS increase it provides is offset by the annoying playstyle. It's a lot easier to mess up than Demonic for barely noticeable DPS increase. The risk and and extra skill required just isn't worth the reward.

Full disclosure: I'm in no way an expert at the class. With that said:

I used a Demonic build (1,3,1,1,2,2,1) until a couple days ago, when I've tried a Nemesis build (3,2,1,1,2,2,3) and after a raid dummy, spending thirty minutes with each build, both Demonic and Nemesis came very close to each other (+-3% difference), so considering that the Nemesis build sucks for AE in comparison to the Demonic, and has way less survivability, unfortunately Demonic is the only real viable option unless you're "god-tier" to consistently pull out good Momentum fights without accidentally pulling adds and/or Fel-rushing/Veng-retreating into a bad spot.

Which is good design, unlike momentum.

I think Momentum could potentially be better vs Zul and Zek'voz due to the massive amount of AoE you need to dish out. Keep in mind, sims say that Momentum is - by far - better than Demonic in terms of AoE. Zul fight doesnt require you to move all that much and Zek'voz has that phase with all the adds spawning, where I could see Fel Rush -> Fel Barrage -> Eye Beam providing probably the highest AoE of any class in that short window of burst.

Outside of those two bosses, I wouldnt even consider playing Momentum. It is just not worth playing that spec vs bosses with a lot of ST or a lot of movement. Plus it is harder to execute the rotation flawlessly compared to Demonic.

Either it is dead, or literally no one who plays momentum and their guilds are intelligent enough to know how to upload logs.
    You decide ;-)

Pretty sure when people realized you needed room to make this work, which meant more likely accidental pulls, falling off edges, or simply being backed against a wall so your fel rush being a death sentence... well, they realized its just not viable.

Hell, your not even to boss 1 and current raid, and as soon as the elevator moves your playing hell to DPS. And lets not even think about M+, a momentum in TD would be amusing as hell.

Against popular opinion, i'm enjoying playing Momentum more than Demonic.. even though i hated it in Legion.
