Lame ass bait thread, even if taken literally, the only viable answer is Blizzard, because neither faction can really win and the only one who will win by opening a backwards server is Blizzard as well. No matter how shit the current version of the game is, if I wanted to go back to the steaming pile of shit that was classic I might as well just play any of the asian shovelware MMOs, since the only difference between classic and them was having a bunch of written quests that gete you at least 80% to max level, some of the asia ones even have enough quests these days to reach max level!

And that there is the issue, people who are so far into their own camp that it absolutely have to be a us vs them scenario.

Whatever happens, we can be sure that people will still complain. I'll always bring up Minecraft because it's always relevant: 100% of all patches, sub-patches and snapshots in the entire history of the game are always playable at any time, the most moddable game in the industry, and people still complain when it changes.

It's not like there are no problems with minecraft updating (sometimes for ludicrious and pointless things), especially when modding the game it always comes with a bunch of issues, rarely does everything go smoothly. So while it's great that you can get any old version, that still does not mean you aren't negatively impacted by it, especially if you factor in mods or friends.
