Good for him. He's immigrated properly like most people actually don't mind.

Though my only confusion is how a Refugee managed to have the Money to start an entire business that quickly? Is he actually a Refugee? or just someone that immigrated from Syria and they are trying to put a refugee success story spin on it?

Yes I’m sure they scrupulously examined every single business in the United States before arriving at their decision.

Come on, don't you know only the illegal ones are rapists and drug dealers? the legal ones are a benefit to the entire community

This Syrian is a true American, he came here legally and didn't force his culture on anyone or ask for handouts.

Refugee doesn't mean poor and not an economic immigrant.

Europe got all the economic immigrants while the US and Canada got to interview and pick the good ones to come over. Win for the US.

I mean moreso as in, if we are lead to believe Syria is this wartorn shithole country which people need to flee. How does an average guy have enough money to open a restaurant right off the bat in a new Country. Refugees generally are the poor ones that need help escaping, otherwise they are just migrants.

All of the above. Migrating gets you in a long line, being a refugee gets you in front of it, past business owner/credentials get you accepted by the US.

Uh refugees are generally people from war torn areas with little with them but the clothes on their back and money in their pockets. The man came from Syria. Heard that place is doing well right now...

I pull up threads from a year ago where people we're calling to turn all Syrian refugees around but this guy is suddenly "one of the good ones"???

Started question the opinions of some people.

People who legally immigrate to America from Europe, Asia or Africa are usually upper middle class.

The entire US is built on immigrants.

And we can see what a "nice" place is and becoming "nicer" with more immigrants.

It's pretty easy to get money in the US. Start a small business, even if it's a falafel cart, take your books to the banker and show him you know how to make money and you get your loan.

There might even be government programs for refugees who want to start a business.

It says he's a refugee in the article.
