Question GPU Raedon 2gb 7870 Broke. Replacement recommendation?

    Hello,

I have recently had my GPU go faulty and need help with replacement recommendations. I have looked into it and I know probably a decent upgrade is gtx 1060 but, unfortunately with Christmas and a few birthdays and big holiday to pay for I find it is out of my budget of 180 Uk pounds. I have seen that the 1050 is suitable but don't want to rush into it.

I have a i5-3570K and my pc has been built by myself a good few years back now. I don't play newest games on PC recently and currently use my PC for playing warcraft, upcoming wow classic most likely as well as League of legends (which is what I've played more recently) but, would still like the ability to play games atleast above 30 fps or preferably 60 fps (not too fussed about max settings atleast console settings at 60 fps).

If more details are required I can try and provide hopefully this will be suffice to get help

Thanks for any help in advance.

Radeon RX 570/580 or gtx 1060.

Gtx 1050ti is a no go.

RX580 8gb or GTX1060 6gb are your best bets for 1080p, they'll comfortable run everything at 1080p60. get whatever's cheaper, or go for the one with g-sync/freesync if you have one of those on your monitor

Since you say the 1060 is out of your budget.
1050 ti or rx 570 is a solid replacement.
My roomie has a 1050 ti and he can play all games on the market, albeit not at max graphical fidelity at 1080p.
RX 570 performs better than the 1050 ti. So if the price is equal I would recommend that one instead.

GTX 1050 and 1050TI are terrible value right now. 1050TI costs the same or even slightly more than a RX570 and is significantly slower.

The best GPU you can get with your budget is a RX580 4GB. Get either of these:

Nitro+ is a better model than the Pulse and very much worth the extra 10£ in my opinion. Both of these will run any game at ultra settings with no issues at 1080p, most games well beyond 60 fps.

    £180? For £169 you can have an 8GB 580.

    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/power...gx-18l-pc.html

As a bonus, you get two games out of Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5 and The Division 2 when they're released.

Never buy Red Dragon. They are hot and very loud.

    Thank you all for help!
I think i will get the rx580, how much of a difference are the two models? I will probably go for the nitro+ but I am asking more out of curiosity.

Also, I have never change the paste between cpu and cooler heatsink is this worth doing while I change mt GPU??

    Thanks again!!!!

The Nitro+ has a little higher factory overclock and a noticeably better cooler, may also have better binned (i.e potential for better overclock) components. The Pulse isn't a bad card by any means but the Nitro+ is the premium brand from Sapphire and well worth the tiny price increase in this case.

Sure. It's probably not necessary but it's basically never a bad idea to replace it if it's a few years old.

Anyone that suggests a 1050 is not your friend. The 6gb 1060 is probably the best value on the market atm, but it's important you make sure you're getting the 6GB 1060 and not the 3GB version that is absolute trash.

Dunno how long this deal is gonna last but Amazon has a Sapphire Radeon RX570 Nitro+ w/ 8GB GDDR5 for £169.99
