I always thought that Tumblr was only ever used by the... extremes?
Am surprised to learn that it has enough "adult content" on it for there to be this kind of a change.
there should be multiple whole cities across the country that put sodom and gamorrah to shame. porn channels on basic cable. our society needs much more sexualization.
i hope tumblr actually suffers for this though, hopefully it won't kill the website outright. but it needs to damage it to the point that they BEG for nsfw artists to come back.
Free speech applies to your ability to talk about whatever you want publicly. The government can't put you in jail from saying "I hate Trump" for instance, and you are completely welcome to report on whatever topics you like, etc. The government does not control the press in that way in America.
It isn't the right to use private social networks any way you please without repercussion. It's truly amazing how many people simply don't get this. There are surely plenty of other networks you can utilize for this purpose that have different rules. If you want to use their media, you have to follow their rules; this isn't rocket science.
There are plenty of things I can't (and wouldn't anyways, but work with me here) say on MMO-champion that could get me banned for instance, but I don't do so because it's against the rules. I don't feel like my 'free speech' is being controlled. It's MMO-champion's private forum and they can decide how they want to run it. They could ban me right now without cause if they wanted to, and there would be nothing I can do about it, and that's not something I can contest directly, because it's their private forum to use as they please.
On the other hand, I would be fully able to create my own forum and say anything I wanted in it... but chances are, it wouldn't have more than 1 user, haha!
So it goes. In short, freedom =/= anarchy. Simple enough concept, right?

Tumblr will cease to exist after that, pretty sure that's what made it popular.
Yeah, good luck tumblr.
No one gives a shit about blogging. They just want the out-of-context porn gifs to quickly get off.
It doesn't help their new algorithm is apparently really shitty. The one I saw that had people talking was a blog that posted purely about dinosaurs and dinosaur facts, diagrams, skeletons, ect. ect.
His entire blog was flagged and nuked for "explicit content", because apparently showing inter-muscle diagrams of a T-rex is as bad as whipping out titties. Which is pretty much what I called happening when I heard it happening, because algorithm bots are stupid and can't tell a slice of pepperoni from a nipple.
Meanwhile I'm sitting here side-eyeing some kink-heavy smut I wrote like six years ago on the Tumblr I haven't used since 2016 and it hasn't been even glanced at.
Depends which feminists you're talking about, there's a lot of diverse opinions in feminism. Liberal feminists would likely support it. Social conservatives and the religious right though - they would all oppose it. The reason these themes are censored in popular culture is a result of decades of crusading from parents' groups, who push conservative morals on society.
Remember that time Alison Rapp stood up for importing Japanese games uncensored, and taking a more nuanced view of sexualisation of young people in Japanese culture? And the alt right called her a feminazi and created a smear campaign accusing her of being a pedophile?

You think companies hate sex? Sex sells. They'd love to be able to put sexual content onto their platforms, it'd go like hotcakes.
So why do you suppose companies like Apple have these Victorian policies? You think they're afraid of feminists? What are they going to do, diss them super hard in the next poetry slam? No, they're afraid of conservative family groups that have been pushing their morals through powerful, well funded lobby groups for decades. They just have to shriek "they're trying to show sex to kids!" and that will get a company inundated.
Yes, all 7 of them. The rest of the authoritarian communist feminists would never support it.
Are you living 20 years ago or something? I mean, that's when this might've last been accurate. These days, the people shrieking every time something doesn't go their way are... the feminists.
both sides are the issue here, as i said. illiberal prudes on both sides want these things banned.
but you cannot deny that in recent years, it's mostly been far left people seeking to ban these things. it's not exactly as common anymore for conservatives to talk about it, though they do bring up violence in media every time there's a shooting.
As I said, the far left has a range of views on the topic. Plenty of left wing people are in favour of more liberal attitudes to sexual content. Pretty much no conservatives are. In fact you could argue that sex-negative "liberals" are in fact liberals who are conservative on this issue. For example, "liberal feminism" refers specifically to this position.
So no, both sides aren't really the same.

A bunch of people who were banned on other platforms have announced their intention to upload to pornhub, so that might actually de facto happen.
I fucking hope not though, pornhub doesn't need that shit.

You know the whole term sex positive actually comes from feminism, ie sex positive feminism?
The idea that sexuality is fine and we should stop with all this religious and pseudo-religious shame is explicitly a liberal one.
Maybe don't get your talking points from Youtube shitlords. I assure you, conservative family groups are still very powerful lobby groups.
