I am 34 years old and have never owned a car.

It takes me an hour and a half to walk to work each day, both ways.

I don’t complain about “rural living” or go vandalize my city.

I listen to a podcast as I walk and remain happy that my life will be a an end, most likely, when the water wars start.

Yes, batteries production is also dirty, but then you forget to take into account oil production when you are doing your comparison. Car batteries do have limited life span, which is something like 7-8 years, but so do regular engines that require frequent oil replacements, which guess what... also not environment friendly.

Overall electric cars, while not perfect, are much much cleaner than smallest petrol cars. Electric cars are new, there is a lot of research going on right now, so eventually I'm sure they will be much much cleaner than today's electric cars, which are already much much cleaner than petrol cars.
Electric cars aren't cleaner then petrol car based just on the production process of the car alone, and when you compare it to a car that's already build then electric cars get blown completely out of the water. Obviously at a certain point people will need a new car and it's better for them to get an electric. But as it currently stands people who can afford an electric car generally already have a functioning car and by getting a new car they're doing nothing but stroking their own ego. And while you might be correct about France they are only a small part of the world.

Rich people's replaced cars don't go to the scrapyard, they enter the chain of car replacement which slowly but surely modernizes the fleet as a whole.

Climate change is real. 99% of scientists agree.
I don't think humanity is capable of solving such an issue in this manner.

I mean, look at the horrific things humanity has done. Look at the dissolution of the monasteries in England in 1536. Back then, England was basically a socialist utopia as monasteries provided free clothing, food, shelter, education, and health care to the masses. It was supported by generous donations from the public. It worked. Then Henry the 8th comes along and wants to fight some wars. He needs to get money somewhere. He sees the Catholic church has all this money running the social safety net. So he embarks on a smear campaign of the Catholic church, sending out lieutenants to spread vicious rumors of how the Church is corrupt, worships the devil, are a bunch of pedophiles, rapists, ANYTHING. Once the public perception of the Church changes, he announces he will step in and "reform" the Church. Once he establishes he can exert authority and control over the Church, he SWIFTLY moves in to destroy the monasteries, churches, etc. he has the priests and vicars murdered. Then he declares he is starting his own Church and is the head of that Church, and FINALLY Henry the 8th reaches the end game where is confiscates ALL the wealth and puts it in his coffers. Then he blows it all on useless wars.

Nothing is ever done to remedy this. Not in 500 years. In fact, we politely BURY the history of this event because it is so embarrassing.

Do you really think THIS species is capable of stopping climate change?
TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.

Shut the fuck up, like until the end of your miserable life.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of your post on this topic is so full of shit that if shit was money, you would be billionaire right now.

Who do you think you are to judge french people? You don't even know the first thing about us and yet, you dare to criticize and make judgements? You made a clickbait and a fully lying title for this tread, you are so fed by leftist propaganda and stereotypes about France since your childhood you are unable to understand what's going on, your ignorance about everything is blatantly showing in this thread, even if however you are infortunatly not the only one; people who pretend to be informed and give false informations about the situation, and about why it began in the first place, and why it continues now, even after the initial subject of contestation has been scrapped by the governement.

The worst thing with you is your condescending attitude, like if you had the moral high ground and you had the truth, while the truth is you are nothing more than an insuffering ignorant asshole so sure of being right he does not even realize he his smelling his own farts.

I know that your people are tearing your “great city” apart for the 4th time in a row, and this is after the tax in question was cut. So now your people are rioting for lesser reasons. Like wild jahootis.

I love how your people are really good at rebeling against the government but when it comes to serious enemies, like Global Warming or Nazis, you fold.

You’re bad humans. Almost as bad as the Americans.
    Almost.

One thing you will learn on these forums is ONLY the United States is allowed to be clumped together to be stupid as a collective because of the actions of a percentage of the population. European countries are specifically excluded from this outright stupid way to judge a nation because they did it to the United States first so it isn't allowed to be reversed. Get with the program.

Last time a leader of France decided to raise even more taxes, it started a revolution and he got guillotined.

Apocalypse? Stop fear mongering. Maybe more ppl would take climate change more serious if the left stopped exaggerating the worst case scenario that’s least likely to happen.

Taxes like this do nothing to mitigate climate change. All they do is destroy the economy. Your not going to stop climate change, at best maybe u can mitigate it.

We need new and efficient technology, humans r going to have to adapt. Either by moving or having new technology to deal w/ the changing climate. This will be harder when u destroy the economy w/ stupid taxes and regulations.

Countries like Europe and United States r not the problem, they do try to cut emissions. The problem is countries like China and India, who only increase their emissions year after year.

The left is stupid, they offer no real solutions. Only taxes and regulations that will destroy the economy. B/c we got to do something to stop the “apocalypse”. But no one can tell u what we need to do, how much we need to do or if we can even stop it.

I always thought that the people of France were smart... BIG mistake. Seems like they’re the dumbest people in Europe.

    /le sigh

Again and again this forum proves that most of its posters can only think in back and white.

Yes, the protests started over a tax that, ultimately, intends to make people use less fossil fuels. But I doubt that most of the protesters are anti-environmentalists. Most of them are people who are highly dependant on their cars and who also have too little income to spend the required money on the fuel they need to get to work, buy groceries etc. They also don't have enough money to buy a new, more efficient (or electromotive/hybrid) car.

Many of them would gladly switch to public transportation if there was enough infrastructure to let this be a viable option. Some of them would gladly move to cities where said infrastructure exists, but the rents for appartments are through the roof.

So these people have literally no other choice but to see less money on their accounts at the end of the month. And this feels - rightfully - unfair. Especially because some sectors are excluded from the tax or get subventions AND Macron just cut down on the "righ guy tax" that was established under his predecessor.

In other words, the french government needs to find a way to make being environmentalist viable for everyone. These protesters don't hate nature, most of them simply want to survive. If Macron keeps being an environmentalist AND live a comfortable life a privilege of the Rich, then he's in for more protests.

Before speaking about "instantly" surrender before nazis, you should learn history, the real one, no the ridiculous propaganda you were told in your schools days in the country were school education is the worst of the G20 countries. You would have learned that the "frogs" did not surrendered instantly, you would have learned that 130.000 french soldier died in 6 weeks fighting the German army, and that they were utterly crushed by an army who was superior in numbers and in military technology, you would have learned that Pétain, who signed the armistice treaty, is considered from this point as one of the worst traitors our country ever had, after being one of the greatest heroes in the previous world war.

That americans like to twist history to fit their narrative and pass as the great heroes who save everyone is one thing, but blatantly lying and spreading the lie that France "instantly surrendered" when the nazis attacked is not only a lie, it is an insult to all those french soldiers who died protecting their country.

Like i said, you don't know anything, you are only able to pass moral judgement because you are so full of yourself that you think you know everything and are better than everyone, the truth is that you are a piece of crap, nothing more.

So i'll say it again: shut the fuck on, forever.

in a way the French are right about the tax. money will not fix climate change. 90% of humans cant even recycle their own garbage. humans in first world countries still shit in the streets. humans cannot even keep their own homes and cities clean. keeping the earth clean is well out of our reach. you can spend all the money you want to fix this issue. sadly money wont fix it. regulation wont fix it. money and regulation don't affect the rich, it only affects the middle and lower class. it will take a global human effort to fix this, and while 90% of the earth cant even recycle their own trash I don't see climate change being fixed ever. plus adding 83 million humans to the total population each year isn't helping at all. one politician produces more carbon emissions flying to one climate change summit than I will my whole life driving a gas vehicle. but lets tax the non rich to fix this.....
