This is "What about Superman's childhood and teenage years? What if Superman was a kid with rampaging emotions and poor impulse control"?

I like the concept but despise that it mirrors so closely to the Superman backstory. This is nothing more than what if fanfiction garbage as far as I'm concerned now. The idea has promise, but this is a creative failure.

It didn’t come off like teenage emotions/hormones to me. It seems like something from the ship is taking him over. Like he’s having no control over it... or it might be something inside him that interacted with ship when he made contact with it, setting him off. I’m not sure.

I'm in this camp. It's not that he's 'born evil'. It's that he's not human.
An alien, with unknown motivations, and unknown pressures from the craft he came in.
They make a big deal in the trailer about him looking for whatever the parents are hiding from him, like he's drawn to it.
I'd put this in more of the alien/monster horror trope, than any alternate reality evil superman.

What I'm getting from the trailer is he seems to become corrupted by something. Whatever that something is and whether it corrupts him entirely (Omen) or if it's simply a case of being controlled... There is plenty to set up a "rescue the child" storyline.
If this were an evil superman situation, I think he would be the main character, like Hancock. He clearly isn't, the parents are the main characters.
