They can... but, the deal isn’t made with a country. That’s not how trade works... you don’t trade consumers. If that were the case, China and India would be undesputed dominant economic powerhouses.

The bigger issue is ports... their prices would sky rocket. Anything coming in from Asia, would need to be shipped through the Panama Canal. The shipping cost would increase by at least a 3rd...
Edit: You might get half a Washington, but it’s not the half you want... plus, it would be expensive to destroy all the wind and solar generated in eastern Washington, so Exxon can get more money and they can fight the China hoax.

Are bases a real concern? If they were, wouldn't China/Russia long ago have prioritized their relationship with Mexico in order to install them? Neither country has a military presence in the Americas currently that I'm aware of. As far as spy networks, I'm pretty sure those are running just fine as-is.
hahahaha NICE!

Russia was trying to establish relations with central and south america in the 70's and 80's, that's why several different administrations sent CIA and other shenanigans to prop up right wing governments and to put down socialist movements, Cuba being the biggest of those things, and the bay of pigs ect.
“Do not lose time on daily trivialities. Do not dwell on petty detail. For all of these things melt away and drift apart within the obscure traffic of time. Live well and live broadly. You are alive and living now. Now is the envy of all of the dead.” ~ Emily3, World of Tomorrow
Words to live by.
Blue states have cities with more people than live in entire red states. We're not headed for civil war. Red states just have a greatly inflated view of their importance and significance which is propped up by things like the electoral college and even equal senators giving them more sway than their population actually warrants. They're being fed by right wing news that they're the real Americans and everyone in blue states or on the coast are liberal elites looking down their noses, which is ironic when California has more conservatives than many red states as well, just not making up the majority.
Red states heavily rely on federal tax dollars provided by the more booming blue states. Blue states in the US are doing overwhelmingly better than the red states, with the exception of Texas which is on a decline itself and the decline is pushing it purple. Red states are the lowest in the country when it comes to wages, health care, poverty, quality of life, industry, taxable revenue/contributions, education, etc. If they were mostly cut off and states gained more independence, which is something conservatives scream they want when it comes to being able to discriminate against people, poverty and starvation would run even more rampant. Many red states have the quality of life equivalent to a third world country, developing at best, as is even when being propped up.
Go away California, we don't need you and your GDP
