Not sure why they are rebooting this. The "current" franchise seems to have been doing well. And no Brad Dourif is like taking Robert Englund out of Nightmare on Elm Street, or Doug Bradley from Hellraiser.

Its because its a murderous robot doll instead of a doll possessed by a serial killer.

The Chucky series will continue as a TV Show, apparently, while this will be a Child's Play series of films with a new take on the character. AFAIK Dourif will continue voicing Chucky in the show.
The real question is, since they are remaking goofy 80's horror movies lately , I want my Critters reboot :P

not sure how well it would translate into 2019 and beyond but damn i loved all those weird creature movies from the 70-90's
critters, killer klowns, gremlins, killer tomatoes, re-animator etc. even things like return of the living dead.
they had gory stuff and where hilarious at the same time.
I had fun once, it was terrible.
Its possibly getting a tv show and film

This was the only horror movie that scared me as a kid. I watched all of the 80s slashers growing up, because I knew they were fake. Child's Play though... Those fucking dolls were real!
Nightmare on Elm Street became better with the added humor in the 2nd and 3rd ones. That tongue-in-cheek humor is what the remake missed about the series. Unfortunately, the lack of reality associated with My Buddy no longer on the market, and the cynicism of Charles Lee Ray, will detract.
This movie is really scary
That awkward moment you can turn the wifi off to stop a serial killer.

I'm not saying they are blockbusters. Just that the movies have held up. The first movie has aged well considering. And I am comparing this series to the Hellraiser series. Which, it seems the producers of that series are intent on driving it into the ground. As for the Child's Play series, I can't think of a "bad" one in the bunch. Chucky is probably the one movie horror villain that has been consistent in his protrayal.
And if you are basing the quality of the movie off of just box office and reviews and have not watched the latest movies, you should give them a try. At least the last two.
This looks all kinds of bad, and the kid is too damn old.
Right? Why is a kid at his age getting a doll? I'm looking forward to this, but only because this motherfucker terrorized me as a kid. I just hope they don't butcher it, I really really hope they don't. From the trailer, it actually looks like it could be scary. As long as Chucky doesn't look ridiculous.
Also, a TV show for Chucky? How am I just now hearing about that?
Jennifer Tilly is boycotting, so I am going to join her in boycotting this movie I never had any intention of going to see. j/k
But no seriously, I never enjoyed the first one, wait well maybe the first, the rest just seemed like recycled garbage like Leprechaun, and a reboot just signals they run out of Ideas.
At this point I totally expect to hear Freddy Kruger shows up as an Easter egg or something.
