He had my vote in 2016, and I'd vote for a potato over Trump but surely the Dems can do better. Like him, love him, hate him, his age is a factor and will affect his campaign.

Well since no Biden I’m voting for Gillibrand at this point as for VP Warren. This could change.

If it’s just who I like most. Amy Klobuchar and V.P Kamala Harris.

This is awesome, I hope Bernie gets the nomination this time, and/or before he dies of old age.

Hopefully the DNC doesn't stab him in the back again; They probably wouldn't do that a second time, would they?

If he has the stamina, it will not be a problem.

I like his politics but newer, younger Dems are taking his policies now and I'd rather vote for someone new and young over old and is going to die in 3 years.
Just don't reply to me. Please. If you can help it.

You say support but I think you mean to say approve, because supporting him would entail either voting for him, or sending his campaign money, and I doubt you are doing either. I'm in largely the same boat, though as a Canadian I'm not voting for anyone, I think Sanders has done wonders for pushing the overton window in US politics, I don't think he is the right candidate at the end of the day.

If i could vote in america I would vote Bernie. But he looks to kind and naive to be a politician

Lots of good discussion itt. I'm glad.

I'm not 100% in agreement with Bernie, but what 2 human beings are? I divide my stances into three areas.

Social issues(gay rights, abortion, drugs, etc): firmly on the Left

Economics(progressive taxation, social welfare systems, free college, etc): firmly on the Left

what i call National Sovereignty issues ( defense, borders, immigration): hard Right

So I don't really have a party home. i have to search for the candidate I disagree with the least. For awhile, that's been Bernie. Obviously, he and I differ on lots of things, but I am 100% with him on social and economic issues.

I'd prefer for him to go away.

One 70+ year old vs another 70+ year old is not how I want 2020 to shake out.

In his own words, he's not a democrat... He's a political opportunist.

If the field remains split 10-12 waves bernie has a really strong chance of taking the nomination as he has a small but pretty firm following and probably big enough base if the field is that divided. That said it is not concern trolling to suggest that a guy who will be almost 80 at the start of his first term is not an issue. Could he serve a full term yes very likely. Could he serve a second term starting at age 84ish and end a second term at almost 90? not likely. So best case he wins and is a one term president automatically ceding any incumbency advantage to do it.

I firmly believe had Sanders won the primary back when, i.e. Clinton didn't steal it, then he'd have been our 45th president. He preached a lot of the same populist points Trump did so I think he'd have been able to eat away at his base instead of pushing people towards it like Clinton did.

That said, I'm unsure. I feel like Bernie is pivoting into an area I really don't like and kind of feel I should put support behind Gabbard. I think she'd an honest women, has been open and apologetic about past mistakes and seems to want to be president out of a love for the country rather than a love of power.

I get this icky vibe off Harris and Clinton, but when I listen to Gabbard I'm not getting it.

    Clinton didn't steal shit

The DNC owes NOTHING to Bernie Sanders since he literally isn't a democrat.

I blame the people who went from loving bernie but voting Trump like HOW IN THE FUCK DO YOU DO THAT?! They're just populist sheeple who don't give a shit about the actual ideals.

What is icky about Clinton and Harris?

  17. #157
The DNC certainly put their thumb on the scale. But yes, Bernie would have beaten Trump soundly. Even though Clinton was one of the most disliked candidates in history she still got more votes than Trump. Bernie wouldn't have had that problem. Any kind of nonsense attacks against him about socialism wouldn't have mattered. The only people that silly propaganda works on wouldn't be voting dem anyways.

Did the DNC and corporate dems learn their lesson from 2016? Probably not. I'd like to think voters are at least a little smarter this time, though.

I've already stated many times that I wish we could replace all top leadership with Gen X or younger. But obviously if Sanders wins the nomination I will vote for him. I'll then bundle all of my thoughts and prayers and send them to him on a regular basis to be healthy for the next several years.

They are apart of the corporation coalition instead of trying to be FDR 2.0, that is the problem. They are not Left but more center-right which in turn will not give us a social healthcare system. They would not do busting of large scale corporations. They would not put in a WPA style system to force companies to push wages higher. I was out of the nation during that last election and thus did not follow it as close as i am now, speaking to people in my area ( Highly conservative to begin with ) they had a distaste for Clinton as they felt she would be more of the war mongering type. It also helps that they all thought the TPP was a terrible idea and would be equal to NAFTA where as from there words Trump was for more America first where as she wanted to outsource more and more jobs. So I do not fault them for voting for Trump, not because they are racist nor do i have the idea that everyone whom voted for Trump is a bigoted shit heel ( My dad before he passed voted for Trump and very strong in the local jewish community ). I still do not think any Democrat will win my state regardless of whom is on the ticket i can still understand and not be upset with those whom voted for Trump.

I have never understood the mainstream Democrats venomous hate for significant chunks of their own base. It is like, if you have one crop of voters like Themius who will vote for you even if you straight up piss on them and another group who is significantly more fickle and demanding, but their support is critical, you'd THINK one would focus their efforts on wooing the fickle ones since Themius will vote for whatever thing you put in front of them with mindless enthusiasm.

How are many Democrats so braindead as to not understand the core aspects of building a coalition.

If I need both armies but one army is devoted till their last breath and the other isn't so sure about me, I will move heaven and earth to keep the fickle one happy and on my team, knowing full well the other army doesn't give a shit and will follow me to hell if I ask them to.
