The main issue with the health care in the US is the constant medical rising costs. Esp. drugs. Much higher than the rate of inflation and it is a burden the middle class mainly have to carry. The poor can get a lot of assistance and the rich it is no big deal. Except those who have investments in the industry, so they want prices to stay high. :P Not a expert for sure on the subject, but I have read and heard, if you can afford it, the US is where some will visit in order to get the best surgery, specialized care, etc. And the medical advancements and such mainly come from US research?

I live in one of these non-free free healthcare systems.

I've been taking the same pills for 15 years.

I pay for them 7 Euro a month, because it's subsidized. Otherwise i'd pay 60 Euro a month.

I can live with that.

If they're not fully covered they are usually subsidized.

Plus they have a nations power to negotiate with drug companies to at least keep the profit margine they are charging for things like cancer drugs to a more sane level instead of the US where it is just pointing a gun at a cancer patients head going give us all your money or die.

I'm Canadian. I think it's obvious that Sanders was talking about the costs of "care". ie--seeing a doctor, getting medical procedures done, etc. The only out-of-pocket costs I've ever incurred here are hospital parking fees. My local hospital charges around $4 per stay. People here complain about that rigidly, but I always remind them how good we have it here.

And prescription drugs definitely can be a burden here, but most employers include health insurance that covers everything that our single payer insurance doesn't (drugs, dental, elective physio, etc). If a bottle of pills would normally cost me $60, I will usually pay around $15 after the insurance.

As I already explained, I can and do take care of myself. Before I could do that, my parents did it. That is how the world should be. We would absolutely not have gone extinct, I mean people DID think like me up until the Great Depression (at least for the USA) then everything went to hell after that.

Interesting read on Canada's health care.

I thought Canada had 100% free everything. It's not true. Always it's the same thing with these "free health care systems", if they talk to Americans they say how great it is. Meanwhile at home, they complain about it.

Not true here in Australia either. Plus as a base, I pay about 2.5k a year for the privilege of medicare as a faux socialised insurance payment. We get rebates etc through medicare, similar to American private health insurance.
Though America's health care system is pants on head retarded, free market illusion that spiralled out of control.

As a side note, if your wisdom teeth are impacted, that qualifies and is covered. My wisdom teeth were removed in a hospital by an oral surgeon, and covered under OHIP. Most dentistry is not, however.

Yeah, this part varies and I'm not entirely sure why.

I had my wisdom teeth removed because they were impacted and it was causing severe pain and it wasn't covered, but I know people in similar situations that had it covered and I think it's entirely based on the fact I have coverage through my employment.
