    Upgrade priority

    Hi there,
so first I'm by no means an expert on computer parts by any measure, but I do know how to install a new component on a system.

This is my current system, most of which was bought in 2011 with SLI 580, both of which died whereafter I in 2015 bought the GTX 970 together with the SSD.
    CPU - i7-2600 3.4GHz
    GPU - GTX 970
    Motherboard - MSI P67A-GD65
    RAM - HyperX Kingston 8gb (2 sticks) DDR3
SSD - CORSAIR FORCE GT 240GB SATA SSD MLC
    HDD - Samsung/Seagate 1000GB, 7200 rpm
Case - Cooler Master Storm Enforcer
    Power Supply - Corsair HX1050 W PSU
    OS - W7 64-bit

So as the title says where should I look to upgrading the system first?
I have about 450$ (3000DKK) available, but I'm not in a hurry for anything.

    My screen is 1920x1080 60hz.
I'm looking to play, apart from WoW (which atm is lagging when I raid with 25+ people, with raid/BG-settings on), The Division 2, CS:GO and games like Skyrim hopefully on somewhat higher setting.

Any pointers and help for me to expand my IT knowledge will be much appreciated.

Your CPU is the first thing you should upgrade, which obviously also means you have to upgrade motherboard and RAM.

Since you say you're not in a hurry, I'd recommend waiting until summer for the next generation of AMD CPU's.

Otherwise, if you don't want to wait, this build should do the trick:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor (€158.89 @ Amazon Deutschland)
    Motherboard: MSI - B450M MORTAR Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (€105.80 @ Alza)
    Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (€109.90 @ Amazon Deutschland)
    Total: €374.59
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

    Thanks Shakadam,
My gutfeeling was saying that it might be the CPU, I'm gonna start looking into it

Just curious, why such an overkill power supply? (which you wont have to change unless you run out of cables )

Considering that u have a 1080p monitor I'd also say that you should upgrade your CPU/MB/RAM first. Go for AMD Ryzen. They're slightly behind Intel on raw gaming performance, but they're better at multithreading and they're wayyyyyy cheaper. I'd only really pick Intel for Hackintosh or if I want to use it a lot for virtualization.

EDIT: If some money is still left, I'd also recommend buying an M2.SSD. The Samsung 970's are pretty expensive, but they're currently the fastest ones you can get (3.4GB/s read speed) for a decent price

I wouldn't recommend NVMe storage unless you need the sequential reads. Most people forget that pretty much everything you do day to day is random reads, with relatively small files and even 970's aren't that much faster than normal SATA SSD's
    source: I swapped from a rando OCZ Sata3 550mb/s to a samsung 970

Cheapest if you want from Denmark. What Shaka linked ships to denmark and is ~200dkk cheaper according to google

Gotta be honest I'm not quite sure, as I said bought it in 2011, think it was due to the 2x580.

And then you have to pay for shipment. The MSI board becomes 15€ more expensive, so it ends up costing 122,27€.

The RAM ends up costing 115,89 with shipment.

The CPU ends up costing 158,99€ with shipment.

So thats a total of 397,15€ = 2.963 DKR. and then you have to remember if he has to do a RMA he has to send it back again paying shipment one more time.

So no it's not cheaper to buy hardware in other countrys if you are from Denmark. And 450€ is not 3000 DKR. 3000 DKR. is 402€

A single 800-ish would've been fine. a 700 would probably have been too.

That said, if you have the money, I'd also consider a new PSU within the next 2-3 years. The one you bought came with a 5 year warranty and as it nears 10 I'd consider replacing it. Like it should still be fine, I'd just rather not have one blow up and take my GPU with it

That's if you pay for shipment for each item by itself. Shouldn't shipping be just 2 prices? since 2 are from Amazon and 1 isn't. and you can even find the MOBO on Amazon too.

And as for RMA'ing, most companies will cover it if it's not your own fault

Just tried to order it all on Amazon and the total prize is 379,61€. So he ends up saving 149 DKR. That is not something i would do, when i only save 149DKR. And he has to wait 2 weeks for the RAM wich is slower then the once i picked

GTX 580s in SLI could use up to 600 watts on their own

If you can wait, I would seriously hold out for the Zen2 Ryzen 3000 platform being launched this summer (July 2019).

My current build is almost identical to yours and I'm waiting for Zen2.

I also currently run a i7 2600K, 8GB RAM, Vega 64 (just upgraded from GTX 970 like 4 months ago).

Yeah okay, saving 2 weeks of shipping is worth a bit of money

So many nice answers, thank you everyone!
I think I'll wait till summer and see what happens

I recommend you upgrade your CPU and double your RAM.
