The baby boomers were/are a unique generation. It doesn't really make sense to compare the sex rate of two generations and think one was "robbed" somehow; there are different interests and circumstances involved. The current generation does not follow hippie free love like the 60s (due to stds and reputations) so why would you think they should or would want to have the same sex life?

As a boomer... there are a few things I have to say.

Number 1: I am so so so so so so … so so so sorry

My excuse is: I fought as hard as I could to make things better. I got crushed.

First of all when Bush got elected, leading to the Middle East wars which drained trillions of dollars from our treasury as well as killing off thousands of troops - the dead troops were your generation. Then came the Mancession - basically high paying mostly white male jobs that just disappeared, never to return. This would not have happened if Gore were President those 8 years instead of Bush.

Second of all when Obama got elected, and then did the BARE MINIMUM to help out your generation. Better than Bush by HUGE MILES, and he DID repair most (some?) of the damage that Bush did not only to millennials, but also to everyone else. But he really did do the BARE MINIMUM. It was not by accident that his term is when the big fracking recovery happened instead of the wind/solar power recovery.

Finally, our generation is what is responsible for Trump being President. This needs no further discussion.

There is a picture in the Brexit thread of a pro-Brexit demonstration. No one under 40, almost all males, not a non-white to be seen.

The boomers were destined to bring the world to a dark place and every 4th generation has brought some kind of war or upheaval. This is built into our evolution so there is a purpose for it but it still sucks.

The two generations prior to the Boomers had the most catastrophic wars in Western history and brought us to the brink of nuclear armageddon, let's not forget they're the ones who caused the baby boom in the first place by having lots of babies. In general though I find it annoying how people have managed to frame all these economic woes as some sort of malevolent scheme by one particualr age group rather than a number of complex factors to do with how the world has advanced over the past 50+ years.

Also, the OP seems to be blaming the baby boom generation for stuff that generation X is responsible for, it is the parents who are supposed to prepare children for the real world, not the grandparents.

Millenials are the genaration who came of age in the new millenium, so they would have started having kids (generation Z) some time after the year 2000. 1995 is getting towards the end of the millenial range. Millennials are in the 18-38 range, the older end of Gen-Z is just starting to reach adulthood.

If you actually look at the trends, it has almost nothing to do with boomer generations at all and almost everything to do with the newer generations. You're having less sex if you're not married, don't have a job, or are living in your parent's house? That's nothing new. If you follow the trends, sexual encounters were going up until 2007 when the housing market crashed, so that's quite understandable that sexual encounters would drop off, however they've continually dropped at a constant rate since pretty high levels in the Millenial range while every other group (except 50-59) has basically recovered starting around 2016. Now what would that indicate?

Right now the economy is doing well and the job market is pretty much the best it has been in a century with the participation rate actually increasing, so something other than jobs is at play. People are getting married at later ages, which likely has a huge effect: people that are part of the initial rise in the 18-29 age bracket where marriage is lower suddenly have tons of sex when transferred over to the 30's range and marriage rates are higher. If anything, I think generational and societal differences are likely the largest factor in all of this. I kind of equate this tongue-in-cheek (sort of) to the Obamacare's regulation that insurance companies have to cover the children on a family's plan up to age 26. Think about that and the implication it makes... it's basically saying you're no longer an adult at age 18 that can take care of yourself, you're still a child until your into your late 20's. Extrapolate that kind of thinking into society today, and it's not just healthcare, it's rather rampant the kid's gloves that get used on people well into their 20's to the point where they aren't forced to (and don't) grow up. No one, pedophiles aside, want to have sex or get married to children, yet that generation has extended childhood roughly a decade longer than the norm... and people wonder why people are getting married at later ages and not having sex until later in life?

I'd love to extend this to politics, as well, since it is kind of relevant with respect to younger generations generally taking longer to grow up nowadays. However, I want to keep this short.
