Deutsche Bank covered up suspicious activity in Trump and Kushner accounts

Deutsche Bank Staff Saw Suspicious Activity in Trump and Kushner Accounts

Anti-money laundering specialists at Deutsche Bank recommended in 2016 and 2017 that multiple transactions involving legal entities controlled by Donald J. Trump and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, be reported to a federal financial-crimes watchdog.

The transactions, some of which involved Mr. Trump’s now-defunct foundation, set off alerts in a computer system designed to detect illicit activity, according to five current and former bank employees. Compliance staff members who then reviewed the transactions prepared so-called suspicious activity reports that they believed should be sent to a unit of the Treasury Department that polices financial crimes.

But executives at Deutsche Bank, which has lent billions of dollars to the Trump and Kushner companies, rejected their employees’ advice. The reports were never filed with the government.

The nature of the transactions was not clear. At least some of them involved money flowing back and forth with overseas entities or individuals, which bank employees considered suspicious.

    ...

But former Deutsche Bank employees said the decision not to report the Trump and Kushner transactions reflected the bank’s generally lax approach to money laundering laws. The employees — most of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to preserve their ability to work in the industry — said it was part of a pattern of the bank’s executives rejecting valid reports to protect relationships with lucrative clients.

“You present them with everything, and you give them a recommendation, and nothing happens,” said Tammy McFadden, a former Deutsche Bank anti-money laundering specialist who reviewed some of the transactions. “It’s the D.B. way. They are prone to discounting everything.”

Ms. McFadden said she was terminated last year after she raised concerns about the bank’s practices. Since then, she has filed complaints with the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulators about the bank’s anti-money-laundering enforcement.

In short, Deutsche Bank, which has a history of tax evasion, sanctions violations and money-laundering convictions (and is widely seen as a Russian money laundering operation), was the only bank willing to lend to Trump once he'd burned through at least a billion of daddy's money. Prior to the election he was in the hole at least $360m to them.

Activity on the Trump and Kushner accounts was picked up by the bank's anti-money laundering warnings (if you've ever worked in a bank you know how serious those are, you're legally required to report them to the government), but when staff recommended they be reported top executives buried them. At least one employee may have been fired for asking too many questions.

    Nothing suspicious there lol.

The problem with Trump is that there is so much wrong and illegal/criminal around him that nobody knows where to start anymore. Downplaying all those illegal/criminal/moral wrongdoings, or dubble/tripple downing, what trump does is THE Alt-Right tactic to make people lose intrest at the end.

Trump is such a rotten person, a "cancer growth" within society.

so? all billionaires do legal tax evasion.

just make it so once you earn over a billion you don't pay taxes, all they do is pay some accountants to just find legal ways to not pay taxes anyway, just saves them time.

i mean this is a blizzard website, blizzard earned billions and what taxes did they pay? oh yeah they got a tax rebate LOL.

Besides the suspicious and obvious criminal activity, I would think this again would be some huge ethics violation of again the President saying he absolved himself from his businesses.

Yes I know he lies and as stated above this corrupt motherbleeper commits so many crimes and violations on almost daily basis its hard to keep up.
Democrats are the best! I will never ever question a Democrat again. I LOVE the Democrats!

I mean, this is what every single sane person was trying to say while alt-right dunces were screaming "NO COLLUSION LOL GET REKT" across the internet like a mass of preteens in Twitch chat.

Being found not guilty of a thing in the eyes of the law is not the same as being innocent. They could not say for certain that Trump was colluding with Russia but that doesn't actually mean Trump wasn't colluding with Russia. Many people in his department were in fact tied to Russian interference and where there's smoke there's almost always fire.

Trump can be accused of being an idiot in many regards but when it comes to making money and staying out of prison he's pretty damn smart. No shit he'd cover his tracks, any good businessman engaging in illegal shit does.

Not paying taxes isn't the same as raising money-laundering flags. That's why they have different names.

Exactly, and well said. The United States will take a LONG time to recover from the horror that Trump has brought to bear.

Not really - which is why they have different names. Money laundering is not tax evasion. Money laundering is much worse. If Trump was doing so well, why would he need to launder Russia's money?

So 5 anonymous employees think trump maybe could've done something illegal. Whoa guys, that sounds serious lol.

So you don't think an investigation is warranted?
I think the words of 5 anonymous non management employees should be taken with a grain of salt.

"Think"? Its a computer program that analyzes large transactions both incoming and leaving their bank. The five employees were also trained and experienced in tracking malfeasance. So why should I believe you over their account?

By that logic, why believe their account and not their managements?

Because management didnt see the primary source data, they see an executive summary, hence the reason why they pay those specialists in the first place. In any other US bank the senior management would of been notified after the SARs were forwarded onto the US secret service and the Treasury Department.

How about hating him because he's a shitty person and a bad businessman? Hating him because he actively promotes nepotism in one of the highest offices of the United States? Hating him because he constantly lies and contradicts things he says? Hating him because he's a sexist, a racist, and quite likely the textbook definition of "dirty old man"? Hating him because he held official Presidential meetings at his own private resort to get millions of taxpayer dollars into his own bank accounts? Hating him because he's a despicable, foul-mouthed child of a man that has not even an ounce of class in one of the most public and fundamentally 'American' jobs that there is?

I can go on, of course.

    "real non made up reasons"

Yeah, all the ones I listed. Every single sentence is one.
