Iran arrests entire yoga class and its instructor

Authorities in Iran have arrested around 30 people at a private yoga class in northeastern city of Gorgan after being tipped off by an advertisement on Instagram.

A local justice justice department official said the men and women were arrested while practising yoga in a private home, according to the Tasnim news agency.

Massoud Soleimani, deputy chief of the city’s Islamic Revolution Court, told the agency that those arrested were wearing "inappropriate outfits" and had “behaved inappropriately.”

The only difference between Iran and Saudi Arabia is one is mostly Sunni and the other is mostly Shiite.

Are you surprised Iranians were openly flouting the law like this?

We should not be surprised this is happening in a big brother government which watches over their citizens like this. It should serve as warning however to democratic nations, the downfalls of a government spying on it's citizens. Even your own home is not safe or private. Not saying all spying is wrong, as this is how they do catch those who are committing crimes. But be careful what you wish for.

Any culture that doesn't appreciate a woman in yoga pants needs to go, imo.

Requiring requests for surveillance to go through an independent judiciary is a very workable solution. That's one of the things that is so wrong with the "Patriot" Act.

I agree. The invasion of privacy is a very important concern even in the US.

    Guess war with Iran incomming.
Prior to the US invasion of Iraq, the American Bots, Posters also started focusing on everything going on in Iraq to boost the popularity of a invasion. Same is going on in several forums right now.

Thankfuly for the 1st time in a long time the Americans elected a Man into the Oval office, who ran on a platform of peace. But sadly it is only a matter of time before he has to cave into the demands of the Warhawks, gets removed in a election or on fake charges of Russia controlling American elections.

It would be better for the entire world if the religious were removed from power in Iran.

Yes, my history is shaky, but wasn't it the power vacuum we created there the reason they're in power? Have we developed any better strategies for preventing that simply happening again if us or anyone were to remove them?

Its not exactly a mastercraft of spywork if you post your activities on social media, like Instagram. Anyone can follow you there.

That is true to some extent. The government however has ways to trace you more exact location than the average citizen who reads your social media. Unless you post more detailed information on such. They can also, legally, get the information from companies you deal with and actively spy on your every move. Not to derail the thread, but they also do illegal spying of political opponents. :P

The only difference is a clerical error.

It really isn't their culture I would argue. You can go back a few decades to find women in universities and bikinis in Iran.

Today, I read that a serial killer killed 100 women in USA. Mostly he killed slutty women. Look at what is going on in "Land of Freedom"
