    i cant wait to see this fucking shit SRC released soon, now i can watch DorkPlaces for Quake 1 finally die and be forgotten, And maybe see a Proper Quake 1 port that isn't a Slave of the motherfucking OpenGL or it dies in mid development like Quakespasm.

    That is pretty cool.

    Quake was one of my fav games to mod.
    and it had great mods (airquake, nighthunters,. and more)

    But isn't that paying favoritism to a game made in 1996 and kinda open source? As long as there isn't a line of code that looks for Nvidia hardware to run. Like If (hardware=Nvidia) run game.

    Not sure what that means but I have a GTX 1080 so apparently that isn't good enough. So basically a new expensive video card to run a very old game.

    Nobody forces you to play that and nobody who purchased a RTX2xxx card did this to play quake 2 but it's good to have more stuff to keep gpu busy

    Not bad. All they need to do now is lower the brightness of the lighting by a whole lot, and add muzzle flashes, then they'll be on to something.

    The side by side comparisons are a really good example of how graphical remasters like this often completely wipe out the original tone of a game in favour of modern effects. The result is something that looks more technically impressive while losing the atmosphere that made it engrossing in the first place. I'm reminded a lot of the disappointing Abe's Oddysee remake.

    Not really, all of it can be fixed with modding, also stroggos sky was always blue and rusty, and quake 2 started at the Dawn mimicking the Original Operation Overlord.

    Also: i think its time for MMOC have its own DOOM/Quake retro FPS corner.
    there's so many cool stuff, and its damn easy to create complex maps for quake or HL nowadays thanks to Jakchammer, and Doom builder + Slade for DOOM

    tried rtx on bf5 maxed out at 1440, the first solo mission runs at 50-70 fps on a 2080ti, the prologue runs at 70-80

    Pascal and Maxwell series cards have had RTX enabled since April.
