So is the majority hyped or disappointed? I don't think I've ever felt this let down after an expansion reveal and I'm extremely disappointed.

Depends how it plays out. I'm kinda 50/50 right now, it could be like Warlords but instead they fix broken shit like class design and leveling, or it could just be like Warlords.

This just leaves the question that you already brought up: are they so far behind with Shadowlands that they simply don’t know?

8.3 being so light on stuff (again, the raid is massive and looks great) indicated so much more for 9.0 but 9.0 looks completely lackluster and pretty undefined yet.

I’m not very impressed with this expansion announcement, the feature trailer already was quite bad and the deep dive was more of a coastal walk instead swimming in the ocean.

I feel like they had to spend a lot of time explaining the small changes like rng, legos, class changes etc and didn't have time for world building. This blizzcon has overwatch 2 and diablo 4. WoW Shadowlands simply didnt have enough panels to explain everything plus the story.

Yup, and this is why we're slowly getting more solo, alt-friendly content with each expansion since Legion. Blizzard realizing that there's a lot of players that probably don't have as much time to play and want more ways to progress on their own.

Like I'm typically a solo player and Pug. Torgash sounds like where I'll be spending a ton of my time.

Let's be honest, legendaries are just a border color to make a new system visually look more distinct. This Legendary system is new since it's very different than the ones we had before

Cant tell if you are being sarcastic, but thats what I mean. I do think the Tower is still kind of an experiment, but Shadowlands has all the goods of legion and bfa. There is a shadowlands counter to everything BFA has. BFA main features being islands, warfronts, Allied races. Shadowlands has Tower, New max level zone instead of Warfronts, and new customization.

Serious. Look back to MoP at how many features end up getting backlash and ultimately being abandoned. Scenarios, Garrisons, Islands, Warfronts.


And sure I think the tower is still an experiment, but I think it's an experiment designed to be carried forward in some way or another. They have the randomization tech now, so the idea of a roguelike dungeon can be given a new coat of paint each expansion even if the attached stuff like Anima and Shadowlegiondaries go away.
