May I recommend Anthony Jesilnik, Lisa Lamponelli, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, Jeff Ross. All doing very well with non-PC comedy. Up your game, hacks.
Makes the same shit basically for a decade, wonders why no one finds it funny anymore.

It's seriously "rich person who did a bad thing faces, like, some consequences". That's what people are claiming is some society-killing "thing".
Plus, let's check RT; https://rottentomatoes.com/m/dave_ch...cks_and_stonesDave Chappelle's recent special (his what, 500th?) did huge business despite the supposed "backlash". Which consisted of some bad reviews... like who the fuck looks at professional reviewers before watching a Netflix comedy special? LOL. Honestly I half expect to find out any day now that his publicist arranged the whole thing because being "cancelled" is a big money maker these days...
Hmm, 99% audience approval. Sure, the critics are a bit harsher, but the chief criticisms aren't about anything being "offensive".
How about Bill Burr's recent special, Paper Tiger? https://rottentomatoes.com/m/bill_burr_paper_tiger
86% critics, 97% audience.
Won't someone think of the poor offensive comedians who are still garnering acclaim and making lots of money doing exactly what they've always been doing. Comedy is fine.
Am I the only one who thought Dave Chapelle's most recent stand-up special was mediocre as hell?
Phillips: "Waaaaaahhhhhh, I'm tired of societal repercussions, wahhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm taking my comedy ball and going home, even though I never caught flack for any of my comedy movies, waaaaaahhhhhh. I'm going to make serious and dark movies now!"
<Makes Joker, and catches flack for the film's message>

While I don't full agree with Phillips complaints; there is a massive difference between "not laughing" and "demanding someone not do/say that."
I mean, the Hangover was okay and all, and that may not be a movie for you Endus, so maybe you just don't watch it as opposed to trying to get it banned or something... (not that I am accusing you of doing that)
I mean shit on this guy, but Steve Carrell said The Office wouldn't work these days because it crosses lines... then I see Huffpost or Buzzfeed write an article about the "20 most offensive jokes on the Office..." and then I think, maybe these two guys are somewhat right?
You mean the same The Office show that has become such a cult classic that Netflix is worried about their numbers when the show leaves their service?
If everyone is offended how would that happen?

I'm so, so, so, so sick of people crying about political correctness.
People are allowed to say offensive things and other people are allowed to be upset by those things. Businesses are allowed to choose who they do business with. People are allowed to choose what businesses they patronize.
Everything is working as intended.

The people in question have literally no capacity to force these people to do/not do anything.
Literally all they can do is "not laugh" and say "you're not funny because you're just mean and nasty".
And yet, The Office remains beloved and nobody's attacking anyone over it.I mean shit on this guy, but Steve Carrell said The Office wouldn't work these days because it crosses lines... then I see Huffpost or Buzzfeed write an article about the "20 most offensive jokes on the Office..." and then I think, maybe these two guys are somewhat right?
Could we make the same jokes today? Probably not. Because society isn't the same, and as society changes, so does our media, if it wants to remain relevant. It isn't because they're "too offensive".
And seriously; South Park is going strong. That show actively tries to be as offensive as they can be. If what you folks are talking about were in any way true, that show would have crashed and burned a hundred times by now. And it hasn't.
Because you're not actually right about this.
Yeah, right... *continues watching Deadpool*
"In order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must be intolerant of intolerance." Paradox of tolerance
George Carlin summarizes it perfectly:

It's funny because if Carlin was alive and practicing today he'd be eaten alive by these same people complaining about "PC" and "Woke" culture, even though Carlin is among one of the best comics of all time, without question.
It's a failure to look introspectively to see WHY your comedy isn't working. It's also a reflection on society that people, instead of doing this introspection and critical thinking and examination, they just blame whatever group they can target that is below them on the power scale.
Punch up, not down.
Progress can be in a more than one direction,
Dark humour will always exhist. Dead babie jokes will never go away, the more you fight it the further they will push it.
What he's really saying he don't want to be bothered with the hassle.
He dosnt want to be one of the Giordano Bruno, burned at the twitter stake by a few frothing over sensative's on account of a joke, that's fine.
But it dosnt mean tastes over all have changed much, jackass is still funny to alot of people, so is South Park and many many other forms of offensive humour, because we are humans and we on the whole find dark things funny.
This is a phenomena of social media, where small minority voices appear much larger than they actualy are and thus people are reacting as if it is something larger than it is.
Woke culture is a myth, but its a myth that pushing the world towards the opposite in reaction if anything is changing.
Well, as long as people like Anthony Jeselnik are still making comedy, I think you can be offensive all you want. You can't be downright sexist or racist, but you can be offensive just fine.
I'll add you should be clever, also.

Let's be honest though, Mr. Phillips, I'm sure you left comedy to make Joker because "holy shit, they are going to let ME do a dark character study of one of the most famous villains of all time? What an opportunity!" This really just smacks of playing the PC card for more media coverage, which I am surprised he needs for this film.
