Was aggro distance really so extreme?

Sometimes I'm followed for ... a really, really long time. Sometimes very short. Was that just how classic was?

if you're doing anything to the mobs (slows for example) it'll increase the leash range. Also leash range varried alot.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

Leash ranges in Classic were pretty huge. It's why you could kite a boss from one zone to three zones over. Wasn't until BC until they started reigning them in a bunch or might've been late classic, don't recall offhand.

I'm not sure if it's just elites or not, but it seems as though if you take an action towards the enemy, the leash range resets from where the enemy was standing when that action was made, which is why people have kited from Tanaris to Orgrimaar before.

geez, it feels like a quarter of a zone and sometimes they are still on me.

Most mobs that I've come across have a pretty normal leash range tbh. There were some outliers who followed you for basically forever, but IDR which they are.

The elite dwarfs outside of BRD i think follow you all the way to one of the exits of the mountain.

I think it varies by mob type. Same way with the aggro range. There's that one area in Swamp of Sorrows with all the Broken mobs (the one with the extremely annoying escort quest), and they seem to aggro from pretty far away even if you have levels on them.

if you keep hitting the mobs they will keep chasing you. i'm pretty sure they'll only reset after you've not hit them for a certain amount of seconds. but hunters could and frequently did kite elites to capital cities.

I can remember back in the old days someone kited teremus the devourer, a rare spawn dragon in the blasted lands to stormwind, that actually happened quite often. if you keep hitting it, it will keep chasing you.

    Yup.. It was horrible..
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..

You need to do NOTHING in order for it to despawn.

If you attack him...debuff him...do anything to him, he will keep following you until the end of the earth.

Remember the days of kiting world bosses (or really strong elite mobs) into major cities? Hopefully we will be seeing that soon in Classic.

Nope, you can easily kite them to Kargath and beyond.

literally auto run hands off keyboard and anything will be off of you in 20-30yards. I've only really found long leashes from minions that are spawned from certain mobs, and dwarves in BRM.

Using CC on Any damage to an NPC resets their leash range, this way you can kite dragons to northshire abbey

Any action you do can keep them on you for longer. So dont buff or heal and they will drop

  18. #18
I actually remember it being even longer but that's probably because I kept doing demo shout to reduce the damage I was taking from 4 mobs as I fled for my life.

Any sort of action against the following target (slow effects, cc, damage) resets the aggro range a little bit. This is the reason why it is possible to kite stuff for a long distance or picking specific mobs out of groups.
