The takeover is imminent.
Its not exactly the army, but its the Armed police force that answers to it. Might just be scaretactics, or they are preparing for a possible escalation of the riot.
Perfectly normal to maintain order within the boundaries of your country.
Yeah... no.
It is the job of police forces to maintain internal order and enforce the law on behalf of the citizenry they serve.
It is the job of the military to defend the country against external threats and never be deployed as a tool of the state against its citizens.
That is the perspective of Western democracy country. China is not that. China is derives its order from the socialist system. Specifically the People's Liberation Army is in actuality, not the Armed Forces of China (except in the de facto sense). It is actually the armed wing of the Communist Party of China. Its first loyalty is to the party, not to the citizens of the country and not to the state.
When China cracks down militarily in Hong Kong - and I believe they will - remember, it is the Communist Party's armed wing, lead by Chairman of the Central Military Comission Xi Jinping, making sure there is no rival in his authoritarian regime.
But regardless, deploying regular military forces against citizens of ones own country is an illegitimate use of force and delegitimizes any government doing so. The .
Using force and violence to subdue the population of an entire city will not end well.
They could shell Hong Kong and the West will do nothing because they do not want to cause WW3 and its that simple. I want China gone as soon possible but i can not see a spot regardless of what they do to those living there that would inject the US military to force them to change.
well. this is interesting.
Here's hoping no one pulls any triggers, but in the entirely likely chance they do, here's hoping that people realize we have plenty of third world countries to exploit for cheap manufacturing.

China are in a bit of a dilemma here.
They are trying to convince Taiwan that the One Nation, Two Systems will be good for them, but if they go in and crush the protesters in Hong Kong, it sort of works counter to that message.
well i imagine kangodo is very happy.
r.i.p. alleria. 1997-2017. blizzard ruined alleria forever. blizz assassinated alleria's character and appearance.
i will never forgive you for this blizzard.
Well if they cause something like a massacare, the ww3 will happen for sure. Not instantly, but as soon as china invades other countrys. They were preparing for a while now making their bases in countrys they ruined and forced them to have a military base. Its possible they will go after north and south korea at same time.
This would get them close to Japan as they probaly still want a revenge for north-east part of china civilian killings.
Right now its a similar situation, like when it happened with germany and austria merging.
germany joining with austria is a different matter than invading Czechoslovakia...
As for hong kong, it needs to be de-colonized n the traitors rioting n waving british flags need to get what's coming to them. Hard.
Taiwan is next. West will be stopped in their attempts to divide the Chinese nation.

I don't see anyone going to war with China over this. Yes, this could cause a crisis, especially if foreigners (particularly Americans) are killed, but war? No. Most people don't know about the history of Hong Kong or the independence movement. Westerns love to talk about freedom and how they'd love to see countries freed but when it comes down to it, no one wants to risk their lives for some land most people don't care about. Besides, it's in the best interest of capitalism to continue trading with China.
China is already struggling to feed their own people right now. Annexing South Korea - an already starving country - only exasperated their problems. If they annex South Korea, they become responsible for caring for those people, and since China can not, that'd create a humanitarian crisis that would involve the rest of the World. Invading South Korea would never happen, as that would automatically involve the West as well.
China recently stop all agricultural imports from the US. Good thing fir them that their northern neighbor is the worlds biggest agricultural market
Neither China nor Korea have to worry about "starving"
Russia could feed the whole planet if they wanted to. They have been world's biggest grain exporter for years now, and no gross gmo crap! China did a good decision.
