    Is WoW becoming more cute?

While playing Shadowlands demo on Blizzcon, I've faced stewards of Kyryian covenant - owl-like humanoids. It felt mismatched to see such a cute species in the death realm. In parallel to that vulpera race felt the same way in terms of warcraft fantasy - mismatched. Should I say that making them death knights feels dissonant.
Imo Wow never was a dark fantasy and there was always place for humor and absurd. But I can't remember WoW universe having such examples of cutiness like lately, however, I might be wrong. How do you feel about stewards and vulpera? Do they match WoW fantasy in your opionion?

Gnomes, Pandaren, a lot of the model reworks, original concept arts, pets, etc... Cute has been in WoW for a long time, it isn't anything new.

I think there has always been some pandering to the cute animal crowd, but the general reaction to the vulpera probably caused some marketing guys to make plans for the next yacht.

So I would expect at least one corporately mandated Fu... Adorable animal each expansion from now on.

WoW has always had cute elements to it, literally almost all the female options pander toward being cute/pretty/sexy along with the little critters that have been in the game since launch.

I'd argue that the shift came from the transition of Warcraft to World of Warcraft. But WoW itself has always had it.

Gnomes have been in WoW since Vanilla. What a nonsensical complaint.

The franchise of Warcraft became cute in November 2004 when World of Warcraft was released.

Take that for what you will.

WoW was always cute in most of their creatures and the most beautiful game in terms of environment. That's why I didn't end up playing Lineage II

Well I suppose I understand your concern when you bring up the point if going to this supposed realms of horror and death and decay, with the marketing of the Shadowlands as a place "not meant for mortal eyes" and such... then you see fuzzy owl-men with cute, adorable faces.

Tauren are the original furries. They have been here since classic.
Retail sucks. Classic sucks. No positivity, only negative feedback. Why is everybody so damn miserable? Must be somebody else's fault, it couldn't possibly be my INSANELY TOXIC ATTITUDE.

Theres definitely an upward trend in indulging the fury/cutie fetishism.
I think as more young people get involved in the internet, more and more of them unfortunately get mentally mutilated with obsession about cute/furry things. Blizzard in this case is just a businessman profiteering from selling heroin to junkies.

Just because something is small and furry doesn't mean it is nothing but cute. Have you played the Vulpera story? It gets pretty brutal. Nisha best girl.

Bastion is influenced by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elysium a realm of death doesn't have to be dark.

And an owl is a symbolic animal of the goddess Athena and stands for knowledge and wisdom.
