You're Immortal - Must Travel Back in Time 1 Million Year - Would You?

Thought exercise - have some fun! (see the "ask" below)

You are granted immortality. The caveat is you must travel back 1,000,000 years in your own time line. You can bring things/people back with you.

    Details:

    Immortality
    Nothing kills you.
You can "un-stick" if trapped somewhere.
Despite the above, your body works "normally" - eat, sleep, procreate (see below), etc.
You can reproduce, but your offspring will not be immortal.
    *Limbs don't fall off.
*You can kill yourself at any time.

    Equipment & Resources
You can bring back any equipment that currently exists - must fit within a 100m2 area (100 meters by 100 meters). Go wild with this - the measurements are just to have some general restrictions (i.e. bring back NYC is not allowed, lol).
You will have to provide your own power.

    Personnel
You can bring back a total of 50 people.
None will be immortal - they will age and die normally. They will be susceptible to all normal ailments (one exception*).
*Exception - assume no one will die from any immediate biological/viral disease (they can still be killed by wildlife) - during their lifetimes.
They will know you are immortal - assume they are "ok" with it. You are their opportunity, etc.

    The ASK
    1. Would you do it?
    If not - why not?
    If yes:
    2. What would you bring back with you and why?
    3. Who would you bring back with you and why?
    4. What plans would you have for the future?

Footnote: I basically stole this idea from another poster from awhile back. I loved their original idea so much I wanted to build on it and put it out as a thought exercise.

    *Updated for immortality clarifications.

It was wrong to not specify height requirements!! I'll just stack NYC to the sky!

    Oh, hell no!

There is nothing that I could possibly bring from this era, that would not bore the tits off me. Not sure if the people I would bring with me would be very long-lived, either. I'd end up being alone. I would then have little else to do, other than to gawk at the flora and fauna (and occasional bear to wrestle with?). Wouldn't excite me for long, seeing as I still have a fuckton of our more majestic and/or weirder animals to see here now, and I'm not that interested in it either.

I guess it could be somewhat interesting to trying to provide for the people I brought with me, but I think it would be somewhat annoying eventually. I'd be the go-to person that has to do everything.

I'd probably end up hitting that suicide-button before 100 years is full.

(Btw, if nothing kills you, but your body works normally, is eating something you can skip entirely?)

You can eat, but you don't need to - if that makes sense.

    1. Would you do it?
    Hmmm. No.
    If not - why not?
That's the Calabrian period apparently, which would lead right into a major ice age.

That makes it perfect, go back, jump into a glacier, wait to be thawed a million years later, get free immortality.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.

Regardless of all that other stuff, I'd do it just to be immortal.

It would be interesting to kick start humanity 900k years before we would normally get our start. But if you failed, that would be a long 995k years before humanity would even start to resemble anything remotely modern. You'd also have to ensure the people you started were well separated from other proto humans developing. A 50 person bottle neck may be insurmountable, genetically speaking. Although modern humans evolved from a bottleneck of 1000-5000 at some point so maybe not.

I guess the real question I would ask is, how immortal would I really be, at some point I think having the choice to "stop" the experiment would be beneficial, if so, I would be in.

Absolutely yes, even if I could bring nothing but my own body I still would. (Assuming I could make a copy of me that would stay in this era so my family doesn't miss me.)

On day 1 I would start working on making stone tools and fire. It may take me 20k years to get to the same level of tech as today but I could do it. Also, I've done a little bit of studying on making microprocessors and semiconductors at a low level of granularity so I would have a bit of an advantage when it comes to re-inventing computers.

The ability to be a literal God? Obviously, yes.

Bring as much construction equipent as possible and start building weird pyramids across the globe much to next generations' confusion. Then laugh horrendously at various theories why these were built

Challenge Day on the Time Travel League.

Seriously though, knowing it's going to happen, and how, and most importantly where, would be a huge help in overcoming it. Plus, you do get to bring back a lot of tech. How long would it take you and your team to reboot a digital society?

If you're immortal and can't be killed what do you do when the planet dies? Or when the universe dies?

Yeah, the 1 mil before might not be an issue.
But the 1 mil after today? Or the 5 billion after that?

Me and death will be on the bestest of terms...

maybe solved by another time travel ? same 1 million years back, but you pick another place. your influence will change earth's history anyway, so i would guess it leads to multiple timelines.

For me that's just too far back with too many unknowns (aka dangers humans can't acclimate to). A few thousand years? Absolutely, that sounds fun!
But a million? Nope. I think immortality is more rewarding when you have an unexpected future ahead of you or when you get to live through your favorite periods. To me there is more excitement and ease.

On the off chance I somehow managed to make Atlantis or Wakanda, the work would probably consume me. I'd have a hard time letting people take over after me, because my super-city would be the only child that wouldn't die on me. There is a lot to think consider, but even the best scenario breeds hardship I wouldn't want to deal with. Being immortal would be less harsh on a person's constitution if you're a smaller part of history rather then forging it. These sorts of things come at great risk and take a lot out of you. Would I still have much of myself to give after 200 years of dedication? I guess I'm mostly afraid that I'd turn into someone I'd hate and my immortality would bring more pain than it's worth.

Plus disease and weather extremes I couldn't even fathom. I don't mean to be a pessimist lol.

    Immortality precludes needing air.
