"We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see." ― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

If you're the best archer on the planet, then why go into close quarters combat with a trained knight? Smarts come into play, you can be a great archer but if you don't use your skill wisely it means nothing. So she can hit a target from a few miles away...how much did that skill help her? If she wasn't raised by Arthas she wouldn't even be in this competition...
'Brightest' does not have to refer to marksmanship skills. The Farstriders emphasised a large range of skills from close combat to wilderness affinity. The context in which 'best and brightest' was used to describe Alleria does not have to imply marksmanship, whereas Sylvanas' feats undeniably do.
I believe the cinematic you refer to has been meme'd a bit out of context. She doesn't powerslide into frostmourne, she powerslides a bit, Arthas then charges up to her (he is mounted, remember) and stabs. Don't get carried away with the memes.
As I said, this is not a challenge of who is smartest. This is about marksmanship, and being stupid does not mean you cannot use a bow.

its canonically Sylvanas (even in life) with only Alleria coming close to challenging her
For those with less than perfect memories I'll remind you that
A: She was out of arrows after hours of fighting
B: Arthas rode up to her, this happens in Warbringers and in the book Arthas, rise of the lich king. In the book it goes further into detail that she was utterly surrounded by the scourge at the end, and the only reason she didn't die there was because Arthas made them pull back so he could kill her himself.

You mean the plaque on which Sylvanas would say only the best things about her sister who she thought was dead. Nothing in canon so far in or out of the game has shown Allleria with any comparable archery skill to Sylvanas.
I remember Shandris being described as the best marksman in the world. Not sure if that means she can hit something regardless of what her weapon is or if it's exclusive to a bow and arrow.

Yes that plaque. The one that backs up his claim in english words regardless of how you interpret it. The word "canon" within blizzard games is an oxymoron. More things get retconned in and out than any other universe.

So once again, to make this as understandable as possible, it's a plaque written to honor the supposedly dead Alleria. Sylvanas saying she was the brightest of the order doesn't mean she was the best archer, hell one can say that it had nothing to do with archery at all.
Sylvanas is no longer on Azeroth so Idk why she is even on the list.
