Andy Serkis has said the showunner told him the character survived. Of course that doesn't mean it is canon until it is more formal.

Recaptured is an easy explanation. It could even make for a good story for a Rogue Squadron movie or show that tells the story of freeing prisoners on various worlds. Disney has said they want might still be interested in doing a Rogue Squadron project.

I would very much like him to return, however, I do see your point. He was so absolutely terrific in Season 1, and his ending was wonderful. I didn't think he was a gonner just because of the swimming thing - people can swim just fine their first go around, or whatever - not that big of a leap to say he survived.

However, it would be tough to add onto his already terrific performance. So yeah, good ending to that character. Let it be.

Kino Loy can never have gotten off that tower and Andy Serkis could still return to Andor. I mean, while the dude is an excellent actor in his own right...his main claim to fame is Motion Capture.

Not a big leap of logic no...but it would be a terrible disservice to the character. It ruins his sacrifice. He did everything he did...knowing he wouldn't ever escape.

So torn - as it is the part of Andor I enjoyed the most.

Agreed would /love/ that the character (and Serkis) would return. But also agreed - it would feel like just another character with nonsense plot armor instead of being a meaningful moment and sacrifice.

However, I also see how one could easily work in a few flashbacks of Andor's experiences in the prison that would include that character. Just make his loss more felt by the viewers, rather than make it meaningless.

Andor Season 2 "Likely To Be Moved To 2025," In Disappointing News For Star Wars Fans

    https://screenrant.com/star-wars-and...-2025-release/
BY THOMAS BACON - 1 DAY AGO

Andor season 2, the continuation of the critically acclaimed Star Wars TV show, has reportedly been pushed back for a 2025 release. A recent Disney press release confirmed two new live-action Star Wars TV shows would release in 2024, but one surprising omission was swiftly noted; there was no mention of Andor season 2, eagerly anticipated after the critical success of season 1. This was understandably regarded with some concern, but a section on "Returning Series" did note there were others not shown on the list. In truth, the fanbase wasn't sure what to make of this news.

According to Gizmodo, however, Andor season 2 is probably going to be pushed back to 2025. They report sources close to the production who have advised that delays due to the writers' and actors' strikes, "as well as the time needed to release the other two shows," means the show is likely going to come out later than expected. This is surprising news, given Andor only had two weeks' filming left before it was forced to pause due to the strikes. Screen Rant has reached out to Disney for comment.

Lucasfilm announced an August 2024 release for Andor season 2 back at Star Wars Celebration, but that predated the strikes. While Andor hasn't been directly impacted to the same extent as some TV shows, it's quite possible the release schedules have been switched up dramatically because Disney has less content to work with in the short-to-medium term after months without writers or actors. That, sadly, would potentially explain why Andor could be delayed.

Looking beyond this, there may also be factors in play that are specific to Lucasfilm. Curiously, the future of further Star Wars TV shows set outside The Mandalorian era is currently a mystery. The writers' strike may have meant Lucasfilm couldn't work on other ideas, with Andor has been pushed back to give the studio more time. That would be disappointing, but understandable. Hopefully it won't be long before Disney confirm Andor's fate.

Stellan Skarsgård Is Very Pleased With Andor Season 2

    https://gizmodo.com/andor-season-2-l...ney-1851222290
By Germain Lussier - Monday 12:30 PM

The second I mentioned Andor, Stellan Skarsgård’s face lit up. The legendary actor, who is back to portray Baron Vladimir Harkonnen in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, recently finished filming the second season of the hit Star Wars show where we’ll finally, hopefully, learn more about his instantly legendary character, Luthen Rael. And he seems very excited about it.

In season one of Andor, Rael is a crucial character. He’s the person primarily responsible for bringing Cassian Andor into the Rebellion and risks a whole lot to do so. Along the way, he runs a very cool shop, flies an amazing ship, and gives arguably the best monologue in Star Wars history. Click those links for more context.

So, after discussing Dune: Part Two for several minutes, io9 brought up our adoration for Andor and Skarsgård smiled brightly. He, of course, can’t say much if anything about what’s coming in 2025—but he did tell us this when asked how he felt about where his character ended up. “I’m satisfied where it goes, yeah,” he said. “It’s such good writing and it’s Tony Gilroy, I really like to say his lines.”

While the return of Andor was originally planned for August 2024, the writers’ and actors’ strikes changed that. Production was forced to shut down for months as everyone waited for the studios to make a fair deal. Which, eventually, they did. But as a result, the show finished filming much later than planned, and though it’ll likely be completed later this year, with two other Star Wars shows also on deck, we’ll have to wait just a little longer to watch it.

But, Luthan Rael would surely tell us that good things come to those who wait, and it sounds like Skarsgard and Gilroy certainly have that.

Andor Season 2: Diego Luna Announces Star Wars Show’s New Season Has Wrapped Filming

    https://www.superherohype.com/tv/566...rapped-filming
    FEBRUARY 9, 2024 - BY BRANDON SCHREUR

Diego Luna, who plays Cassian Andor in Disney+ and Lucasfilm‘s Andor, announced the second season of the fan-favorite Star Wars series had wrapped filming in an Instagram post that he shared on Friday, February 9, 2024.

“Today is the last day of filming Andor,” Luna’s caption reads. “I could not be more thankful to the entire crew for this amazing experience and the years of hard work. More than 700 people have worked on this production, and it is impossible to say goodbye and thank you to everyone individually, which is why I write here. THANK YOU for the love and the wonderful experience. See you soon.”

I didn't even know they they started shooting.

The benefit is that it's a show where they aren't trying to juggle actors to be in two or three other shows and a movie. Not knocking the Rebels-Mando saga because it's because it's been years in the making they just needed the traction but nkthk. beats good focused energy. A story with a hard end point for all characters involved opposed to the story of several characters paralleling the timeline of the entire Skywalker Saga.

‘Andor,’ ‘Moon Knight,’ ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ and ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ to Bow on Blu-ray With Deleted Scenes, Featurettes

    https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/and...ay-1235930078/
    By Todd Gilchrist - Mar 5, 2024 7:00am PT

On April 30, Disney Home Entertainment will release on physical media four more of its streaming series, two from Lucasfilm and two from Marvel Studios.

“Star Wars: Andor — The Complete First Season,” “Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi — The Complete Series,” “Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight: The Complete First Season” and “Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: The Complete First Season” will be released individually on 4K UHD and Blu-ray in collectible packaging.

The news comes after Disney announced plans in February to offload its manufacturing, distribution and marketing of physical media to Sony Pictures Entertainment. Though disc sales have steadily declined industry-wide year by year, the overlap between collectors of 4k and Blu-ray discs and fans of fantasy, sci-fi and superhero genres remains significant. It’s this demographic Disney Home Entertainment is targeting, with new box art, concept art cards and steelbook packaging for all four titles.

In addition to featurettes and documentaries, releases for both “Moon Knight” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” include deleted scenes from their series. Neither “Andor” nor “Obi-Wan Kenobi” include excised material, but a series of featurettes explore the world-building of the former, while a director’s commentary by Deborah Chow caps off making-of materials on the latter.

These titles mark Disney Home Entertainment’s second series of collectors editions, after the 2023 release of “Loki Season 1,” “WandaVision” and seasons one and two of “The Mandalorian.” All are currently available on the studio’s streaming service, Disney+, but given that future seasons or follow-ups aren’t due for a while (“Andor: Season 2” premieres in 2025, and “The Mandalorian” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” will next be seen on screen in years to come) or not at all (“Obi-Wan Kenobi”), the sets and their extras are meant to provide their fans with a stopgap to tide them over.

    Bonus Features:

Featurettes: “Ferrix Part 1: Imperial Occupation,” “Aldhani: Rebel Heist,” “Coruscant: Whispers of Rebellion,” “Narkina 5: One Way Out,” “Ferrix Part 2: Fight the Empire”

Does it happen? Why yes it done! Hello, and welcome to yet another internet™ YouTube™ video about Star War™. My name is Krebs Gorlon official spokesperson for Red Letter Media™. The clowns known as Rich Evans and Mike Stoklasan famously known for having zero association with P. Diddy (formerly Puff Man). Today Mike and Rich decide to finally make a minimal effort to catch up on the world of a Star War. A world they has decided to shrug off years ago after a clone of Emperor Palpatine was used as a desperate attempt to make cheap cash from a brain-dead audience of clowns and sh*theads. Mike and Rich both loathed Rogue One: A Star War Story. Ever more they loathed the love for its' bland characters like Gem Klebstone, Korla Blargbon, Phib McP-Diddy, and especially Cassian And/or. They saw Rogue One as a bad sign. A “remember this” orgy of pointless action scenes and a film awash in Star War c*m. Star Wars porn essentially. Not much to admire about the writing. A dumb man’s science fiction film. So when a series about Cassian Andor, a character destined to die after a Grand Moff Tarkin with a cartoon face laser blasts a planet, they had no interest. Thankfully, whoever is writing/producing/green-lighting the Star War have made a bold and smart course correction to appeal to people who have IQ’s above 8 (at least on this series). Mike and Rich both very much enjoyed Andor. They discuss the show and the inner workings of what makes a Star War work and what doesn’t. What should be done and what shouldn’t. Now, keep in mind Mike and Rich aren’t super up to date on a Star War. They’ll most certainly get some names wrong. Some places wrong. Shows, characters, settings, events, canon, history, places, people, names, dates, races, planets, movies, books, shows, actors, times, technology, witers, death stars, darth vaders, and star war, but begast you must know how they doesn’t do then on purpose. The house is on a hill, but alas it's not haunted. They try their best despite not caring one bit or nothing like that. They watch shows meant for others not wanting to know more about the Star War. These kind of material can be overwhelming for them as their brains and body are constantly fighting off deadly infection. It can also be incredibly dumb and debilitating. These characters with laser swords always fighting others. Always sad people selling junk or cutting up fish meat. Always a bad ship in space. Always a fighting. Why? But people love this crap. They dress up in the costumes like zombie. Say the names and remember things they know. Cry at the trailers. Cry at seeing a thing they remember on a screen. Fill up their drawers with junk when they see a Jedi or a Darth Something. They see a de-aged Anakin Skywanker and ask about why he ate a Jar Jar Binks for dinner when he became a Darth Vader? They LOVE it without question and Kennedy and Dave F. drool at their masses. The actors and creators go on stage and smile and drool for that sweet sweet cash. They want to say how much they love being a Jedi or a whatnot. They say they love the fans and that the Star War is a family or a community or whatever, but all these ghouls really love is the checks.

    I don't understand.

Is that mess of "commentary" under the video YOUR (Ihavewaffles) statement about the video, or some 3rd party writeup on the youtube channel that you included for reasons I don't understand?

    I can't tell.
