5 things you were glad/grateful for this decade

Theres a lot of things people had reason to be angry and pissed off for in the last 10 years, some could probably make a list of 50+ things they hated in the last decade.

But lets not do that here. Instead, just think of 5 things you were actually glad or happy for in the last 10 years, maybe something you discovered, something that happened to you that you were thankful for, a big change that made things better for you, or something bad you avoided or survived.

    Mine were:

1: I discovered a new career path in something I actually enjoy, instead of retail, that being a cook. Its been the most enjoyable job I've had in a long time
2: Games like undertale, stardew valley, and several others that gave me a pleasant break from the day to day monotony.
3: The birth of my second nephew, though I'm not crazy about kids, I've grown to learn it is a nice feeling being an uncle to two bright kids.
4: my partners graduation from uni, seeing him graduate and how far he's come felt so amazing.
5: I think just in general the feeling that I'm perfectly happy in my own skin, and I no longer have the insecurity I did decades before about how I looked, shape or cloths, and now just feel more secure in myself then any other time before. In the past if someone made any remarks my way I would have want to crawl into a hole, now more so in the last decade I no longer give a shit if someone insults me or has a negative opinion of me, because i'm fine being just myself.

It took a bit to really think about this list, because every time I thought of something it became linked to something else I wasn't to happy about.

Started the decade as a minimum wage factory worker, ending the decade as a Journeyman Wireman making many, many times more than that, enough to buy my first home a couple years ago.

    I'm extremely grateful for that.

Reductions of extreme poverty as a result of non government organizations like businesses.

Advances in medicine mostly from charities and businesses.

Increase use of life sentencing. (We will free them when we figure out how to modify their brains to be like regular people).

Increasing trend towards greater bodily autonomy: Decriminalization of marijuana, decriminalization of same sex relationships.

Meeting up online with like minded people who agree with me. I'm part of a discord server which has over 500 people with very similar belief systems. Our views on criminal justice, science, medicine, capitalism are very similar. This by far is what I am most grateful for, as I finally have a community of like minded individuals who hold a very strong view of justice, principles, human rights, dignity, bodily autonomy.

I share the latter sentiment wholeheartedly. Because while individuals such as yourself might have slipped from being on watch list of certain type, a discord channel of 500 such is a guarantee you'll be included in one along with the group. Very glad to hear this.

Populists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.
