You don't strike someone with C-130s, those are transport planes. You don't strike defended targets with AC-130s either, they don't do well when they shoot back. Right now what is happening is a standard drill to react to an ongoing attack. It is not a counterstrike yet, that will come in about 4-5 hours at the earliest. The only counterstrike that could be happening now is the navy could be suppressing the missiles sites, which means lots of cruise missiles being launched from warships.

There is no "lesson", they present that range of options to the president, no matter who it is. If they didn't, they'd be credibly accused of not doing their duties.

The problem isn't there, it's purely with Trump. And that's a risk of democracy. This all boils down to the fact that we're seeing that Democracy isn't all sunshine and roses, and you can end up with idiotic, unhinged heads of state that no governmental system is designed to deal with because to do so would completely undermine their authority from the start.
