Why can't you just run Mythic+ for normal gear drops and a currency that you could spend on a higher level piece of gear?
The issue is compounded as well. Because a lucky Titanforge on a CERTAIN item can be absolutely bonkers. RNG on RNG on RNG on RNG.
Lucky for you guys that love pulling slot machines the new Corruption gear is basically the same thing. Because some Corruption traits are infinitely better than others you can keep playing the Casino game!
Go chase the Infinite Stars trait that does upwards of 25% of your damage.
I always liked Titanforging. It's a neat mechanic that makes content relevant for longer, be it or dungeons or raids.
Titanforging kind of requires an attitude change from the players, which I guess Blizzard didn't really understand. If you go for the "bis" approach of trying to acquire the best items with the best rolls possible, you will just break yourself. It's not what you should do. Treat it like a happy accident that happens every now and then, and you will have much better time with it.
Preferred the days of farming for BiS and not farming 5 types of the same item... If there's anything Classic - Cata got right was the way gear worked. Nothing more boring than farming for the same item again and again just so you can get a higher level item of that same item you already have... It makes the effort feel cheap and it doesn't feel satisfying in the least.
I like the idea of having to find where the best gear is go there collect and feel like I completed something by having it all. Not be giving more RNG on top of RNG and be constantly farming until I die of an anxiety attack. It just makes getting that gear seem mundane and pointless.

Thank you for pointing out why Titanforging has no place in this game. I always love it when someone proves my point without even knowing it.
This is an MMO with weekly lockouts.
This is why Diablo 3 systems have no place in WoW. Because in Diablo 3 you can keep continuously running the content forever.
So you like only being able to play one day a week and call that meaningful content because this is what an mmo is?
What non sense. M+ Has been one of the better additions to the game.
Dungeons actually have a place in WoW now outside of the first week of an expansion.
And they tune raids like idiots where half the raid is too easy and the other half is obnoxiously hard so only a tiny % of the playerbase can even complete it. And only a handful can complete it before it gets nerfed.

I got one weapon from m+ weekly chest over the entire 8.2 life cycle. Forgive me if I dont get giddy at this being the only chance at it.
And I actually like playing the game, if I spam dungeons over and over hoping for a proc thats on me. Waiting for 1 lock out or 1 chest per week isnt why i play video games. I dont have much time so when i do play it I want options.
But I guess options is bad because some raider is butt hurt they didnt ejaculate over their raid loot because someone else got a good item in heroic. Please.
Comes a time when we all gotta die...even kings.
I mean maybe if they actually developed content outside of Raids that was actually worth doing then you'd have something to do. Alas, they do not.
Dungeons had a place in previous expansions because of currencies like badges. Remember those? Please keep continuing to prove my point.
Besides. As I said to you. You can keep continuing to chase Titanfor.... I mean Corruption. It's still there.
Infinite Stars is 25%+ of your damage. Happy hunting.
You are confusing the word "Decent" with the word "BiS". While weapon damage and int still matters, the difference between the 475 weapons from the first 6 boss, and the 485 weapons from N'Zoth himself (Which, btw, only a handful of specs will actually get use out of the N'Zoth weapons, and most of the ones that will get use from them were previously underpreforming in EP)
So fun to see all the post from entitled people that got spoiled by titanforging ilvl bloat, good stuff, god forbid you need to do hard content to gear yourself up, never seen in an rpg before KEKW
I won't :P
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.
Its stupid game design to have the best weapons be locked behind the last boss of the raid. Why do you even need them once you've beaten him anyway.
Gear is supposed to help you progress. Not be the big reward that all these mythic raiders really care about so they can hang it over everyone else

TF as a concept is great IF it's limited. Content replayability and all.
I've repeatedly put forward the idea to limit the range of forging to "next tier + a little bit", so there's at least some merit in doing one tier below what you'd usually do but no need to farm absolutely trivial content just hoping for insane proc luck.
Corruption is interesting but comes with many potential pitfalls, so we'll have to see how it pans out in practice once people start using it and the values get adjusted (which I'm sure they will, in some way). Right now there's some silly stuff going on with it, but time will tell whether it's a complete failure or an acceptable substitute.
In general, WoW's gear/stat system could do with an overhaul. While I don't think complete "Diablo-ization" is the right answer (D3 is also pretty fucked up, let's be real) I do think that more stat complexity and, consequently, more actual gearing choices could be more interesting. I know Blizzard would just love to have a system of "just equip the higher ilvl" because it's noob-friendly, but that just kills longevity - and at least to some degree, people's expectations are what you cater to. If you have dumbed-down systems, people will expect dumbed-down gameplay. I'm not saying turn WoW into a spreadsheet simulator, of course, but let's face it: even right now, people couldn't tell you shit about what piece is an upgrade and by how much, without consulting two websites and a simulation tool.
Some of the corruption stats, for example, could well be made baseline secondaries - critical damage multiplier most of all.
