I look at the politics subforum and just click back. Lots of clickbait titles and one-sided opinions. Of course, we should care about politics, in an ideal world. But our world is flawed. Do you care about politics?

My former careers pretty well forced me to have at least peripheral involvement in politics. I've had to work in political positions (administrative hearing officer) and at some point may have to work in a somewhat political position again. Politics are all around us and, although they aren't really something I enjoy, my background makes it pretty well impossible for me to completely dodge them.
With that said, however, I try to stay neutral. As I've said in these forums before, I go with the idea that it doesn't matter if the cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.
Yes, but there is only so much circle jerking, trolling, and gaslighting that I can take.
- Christopher HitchensPopulists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.
Have you thought about integration and assimilation? These are very effective ways to change from "hey look I'm a minority, look how oppressed I am, I am the victim!" to "you know, I am treated well because I respect the culture and social norms of the country I have chosen to move to".
This forum is probably a bad place to form an opinion on politics due to the circlejerk and bigotry that occcurs.
best way to find out policies is to follow politics debates and LOTS of news sources so you can find sources for numbers. It's easier to start with 1 point that is passionate for you and start researching that. I wouldn't vote for a party on 1 point though but it's a good place to start.
I usually involve myself 1-1.5 years before our election. We have this timeline that US election is 2 years before ours. After that coverage we get more involved into our own election in 2 years and lots of policies are affected by that election. So I get eased into it through a comedy show at first, then it gets more serious.

The whole "white privilege" narrative isn't accurate though.
There are way more white people living in poverty then there are rich white people living in luxury.
Black rich people also aren't oppressed. There are plenty of black rich sports stars and celebrities and businessmen who are rich and aren't oppressed.
I didn't say racism is over. YOU said that.
I am merely stating that oppression doesn't exist because of race.
It exists because of CLASS.
AA is particularly important! Alcoholism is a disease that takes a horrible price on a person, and many of the people they come in contact with. I'm surprised that some of you seem to be talking about race since you know that's a banned topic and know where that goes.
Oh, and in case you were rushed in typing? I agree that AAA can be pretty important too.

Of course. Those who are in position to change the laws or keep the ones you like, can effect your life. But at the same time, I do not have a lot of interest in it to become a political analyst. And I certainly am never going to reach the point where I hate those who have a different political opinion than mine.

To not care about politics is to not care about how your life plays out.
I'm quite invested in domestic politics, not so much global. It's quite interesting stuff, if at the same time frustrating as shit. The exchange of opinions seen on Twitter gives a pretty good view on why democracy isn't a good system, but merely the least bad option of what's currently possible.
