Looks like one third party challenger has announced their 2020 election bid.

Justin Amash a former republican from Michigan. He broke away from the GOP a few months ago and will be running on the libertarian ticket.

Remains to be seen how it will effect the election. Against Trump his bid offers an alternative to the "never Trump" moderate republicans to vote for which could hurt his margin. On the flip side of the coin it could also pull votes from Biden of "never Trump" republicans who were going to vote for him, but are now not. Which could lower Biden's lead enough for Trump to win a state just barely again.

Another scenario 538 talks about is since ideology is so widely different in the two parties a third party candidate might not make any dent at all. But if history repeats itself a third party candidate bid doesn't go well for the party in the White House.

One thing shared across many of these third-party bids is this, though: They didn’t go well for the incumbent party in the White House.

Is that possible in this forum?
That would be neat, because in 2016 and 2018 we had a spike of burner accounts flooding this subforum.

Isn’t the new expansion hitting around the election? We might see another spike... it’s not as lively as it was in 2016, but might change because of the expansion. I’m returning for it...

I think Trump will win again.

Reason : Private sector workers (who make up the vast majority of the electorate) have nobody else to vote for.

The Democrats don't represent them in any way, shape, nor form and don't show any understanding whatsoever about how to treat them or appeal to them.

Um no. Again, upperclass NEETs from twitter have it wrong.

Trump flanking to the left by demanding more ... Capital Gains Tax cuts?!?!? lawsuit indemnification!

    Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump · 32m
Well run States should not be bailing out poorly run States, using CoronaVirus as the excuse! The elimination of Sanctuary Cities, Payroll Taxes, and perhaps Capital Gains Taxes, must be put on the table. Also lawsuit indemnification & business deductions for restaurants & ent.

Trump is trying to get workers killed at this point.

Forcing states to open will make workers unable to claim unemployment if they dont feel safe at work.

White House considers phasing out coronavirus task force
    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/05/whit...urce-says.html

The White House is considering slowly winding down its coronavirus task force in the coming weeks or months, a source told CNBC on Tuesday.

Vice President Mike Pence, who oversees the task force, confirmed in a meeting with reporters Tuesday that the administration is having conversations about transitioning the coronavirus response to other federal agencies.

This appears to be updated as of March 2020 so it's still relatively recent. I don't agree with everything and it's obvious he's not a hardcore progressive, but based on the ultra-short writeup of his positions on key issues I don't see him nominating judges that would be particularly objectionable in any way.

Though what does the Kritarchy even have to do with this? We're not talking about tribal judges running small tribes in Ye Old Testament times.
You've typed a lot of words to say "Yes Theodarzna, you are correct that Biden isn't actually promising you socialist judges".

And Kritarchy is, if you read the context, being used to say "Hey, if you want Socialism vote for this Neo-Liberal who will appoint judges who will make your political project happen via judicial fiat." Which seems to, well not promised, but alluded, danced around the selling point for Biden. That "Oh the judges, do it for the judges" but the judges who do what and believe what? What judges are even being promised. I swear you make a point to read my posts in what seems to me to be a deliberately incorrect way to create some silly gotcha. I know you aren't actually reading things that literally, and I have very few options but to assume you are doing it on purpose.

Trump is calling for employer indemnity right now, to protect corporations from their employees. As of this point, Biden is a dirty socialist by contrast. As of right now, if Trumps gets his way, you will need Biden, just so workers can sue their employers.

Welp, beyond Biden having negative three supporters among anyone under the age of fifty, and having about as much enthusiasm behind him as a funeral were no will exists to pass sweet goodies along, after Tara Reade's allegations and the self-immolation by Democrats and Liberal activists to suddenly do a one eighty on the Rape Culture stuff, One-quarter of Democrats are done with Biden after Tara Reade allegations and think he should be swapped out.

So... will the party crack? Who will they pick?

Then again, Biden and the DNC establishment does have a fanatical supporter or two:

I'm telling you, Vote Blue no Matter Who is just MAGA for Blue Team people.

Why is Biden pushing for funding to help women persecute powerful men like him self, while GOP is blocking it?

    https://joebiden.com/vawa/
Earlier this year, a bipartisan coalition in the House of Representatives passed the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019 (VAWA 2019), which includes significant, forward-looking improvements and innovations proposed by advocates, survivors, lawyers, experts, prosecutors, and law enforcement who are in the trenches protecting and supporting survivors. Last week, every single Senate Democrat signed on to the Senate version of the House-passed bill. But, Leader McConnell is refusing to bring the bill to the floor in the Senate. There’s no reason the Senate shouldn’t pass this reauthorization now and enact it long before President Biden’s first day in office. But if they don’t, Joe Biden will make enacting the VAWA reauthorization one of his top first 100 day priorities.

Excluding the fact that Biden never said it, never said Reade lied, never accused her of anything, but said to release his senate records. He is also supporting funding for women of abuse to persecute people like Trump and Biden, while GOP is blocking it from even being voted on.

Both of which were Ron Paul supporters until 2015?

I like they're trying to erase the popular will of the other 75% of Democratic Voters. Really reveals their neo-confederate origins and contemp for all of the minorities in the Dem coalition..

Did...that even need to be said? I thought that it was such a painfully obvious fact that we didn't need to confirm this.

I don't think anyone is promising or alluding to this in the slightest in this thread. Nobody is arguing that Biden is going to deliver socialism, at least not on the left. The only ones making that argument are...*checks notes* ah yes, Republicans and conservatives.

And nobody is arguing for lawmaking or rule by judicial fiat, either.

What judges are being promised? None, currently. We've been over this Theo, and I feel like we've been over this a LOT recently so I'm not sure why you're still going on about it.

The "but the judges" is more to say, "Hey, see what's been happening the past 3 years? McConnell packing the courts with activist conservative judges? Holding open SCOTUS seats and others under Obama in the hopes that they could reshape the judiciary in a hard conservative lane? Let's maybe stop that." because I don't know about you, but the possibility of Roe being overturned and even more pro-corporate, anti-consumer, anti-worker, anti-environment rulings doesn't sound too hot to me.

Do we know who Biden will nominate? Nope. Do we have a fair idea of the kinds of judges he'll nominate? Yeah. They won't be activist conservative judges, and while they may be more "centrist" if you have to peg an ideology to them and may be more friendly to corporations than many of us would like, I'm infinitely less concerned with his potential picks than I am with the names that the Heritage Foundation and Federalist society will continue to put forth.

I’ve pointed out the similarities between Bernie bros and Paul’s revolution before... it’s the same thing.

But, I really don’t care who they align with here. ‘Biden is losing too much support’ and ‘Biden can shoot someone and not lose support’ are contradictory statements.

Edit: You can’t argue that Biden is losing support so replace him and that Biden is not losing support, but should be replaced. It kind of exposes this as complete bullshit...

...what? Failing to introduce bills to systematically address issues?

    https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-...se-bill/1/text

Literally the first Bill the House passed was to start addressing campaign finance reform. They didn't work with Republicans on it. Which is why, over a year after it was passed in the House, McConnell hasn't brought it up in the Senate.

You're basically getting angry that Democrats are compromising with Republicans, who are also compromising with Democrats, on key legislation like stimulus or funding packages, while ignoring the great Legislation the House is passing because McConnell refuses to take it up. And you're blaming Democrats for "doing nothing" when they have no way to force McConnell to do anything.

Or is this specifically about the pandemic?
