"Classic will be dead in 2 weeks when everyone remembers how bad it is"

So, where are all these doomsayers now? From the moment Classic was announced, there was just a constant deluge of shitposters and doomsayers around here proclaiming that it's "just nostalgia", "dead in X weeks/months", "everyone's gonna quit when they remember how bad the game is", etc. etc.

8 months in and servers are having 2+ hour queues to get in. Even the "medium" population servers are still very lively, with main cities being packed full of players during primetime. I'm on a Medium server and right now Orgrimmar is so full it's making my FPS drop to 30.

So much for "UHHH IT'S JUST NOSTALGIA, EVERYONE'S GONNA QUIT, DEAD IN 2 WEEKS"

From what I've seen a lot of people quit, a very large amount.

I don't think that has anything to do with Classic, but Blizzard doing ridiculously stupid shit with the rollouts. I mean they literally picked the worst iteration of AV as the one they released.

They said the same about Old School Runescape. It was going downhill until they started updating it and then Jagex finally realized people just didn't like the horrible new combat system.

Most? Where did you see that. I know obviously people have quit, but most? What makes you say that?

They removed layers to a point where only one was left basically removing 4-10x space, yet only time queue pops up when people are forced to stay at home? Or just check wcl.

And i cant blame people, once you hit max lvl theres good as nothin todo.

take a look at wcl and compare BWL to MC. And this does not take into account that most likely far more people quit while leveling.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you as vanilla has very limited playability if you don’t raid but I’m just saying we don’t know what these numbers are. We don’t even know how many layers we had or even how big the servers are

In no way does that make it dead when there are realms still with queues.

Well, I played it 3-4 weeks. Got to 60. Did some MC runs. And realized how boring and unbalanced the game is. So yeah, it's dead for me.

no idea what people are doing in classic, when i played i just raid logged for loot and once i got all the loot i needed i felt no incentive to even log in, one of the problems i have with shadowlands trying to make loot classic-like, maybe its just my retail mentality and classic players can find fun doing content with no reward structure, which is why they should stay in classic and try not to make blizzard cater to them in retail.

The servers that everyone transferred to when the other ones died are doing quite well.

"Classic will overtake retail and retail will be dead in a few months"
    See you all in Shadowlands.

it wasnt dead on arrival and it wasnt the second coming of wow. like usual it landed somewhere in the middle and is doing just fine

its very raid loggy tbh, I just don't really play that much but I do log in to raid. every so often you might get me farming for arcane crystals but really since week 3 i've mostly just logged in to raid and then logged off. is it dead? there is a very interesting contrast in org between a time like early in the morning and 10 minutes before raid time, when its our raid day the place is packed and several guilds raid the same time we do and are usually ready to get the ony/nef buff, but when its not raid time its a ghost town.

Ya it’s alive and well on the three servers everyone in classic play on..

It's not dead, but if you still think Classic has a million+ players then... lol.

Also, Rhona. Server queues haven't been a problem since the first month. Also didn't new content drop recently? Almost as if Classic has the same high-low cycles as retail.

Also also, people are starting to congregate to the few active servers left, thus causing queues. Can you guess why people are doing this? Hrm... I wonder.

Give it up, Classic is not the rebirth of WoW, Retail is still more popular, and for like 70% of people it really was rose-tinted glasses.

Regarding the million+ assertion - this is going to depend on how you classifying having a player and if you include China.
US+EU servers had around 450k players logged within the last 2 weeks so you're probably not wrong if you take a "played in the last 2 weeks" definition, although without knowing the China numbers it's impossible to say (source: https://ironforge.pro/)

Keep in mind the 450k are players who appear in Warcraft Logs which is going to miss anyone not 60 although thats likely offset by people who raid on an alt also.

Server queues are absolutely because those from smaller servers (for OCE this would be Felstriker) have moved (in this case to Arugal). This is in part due to the numbers reducing on those servers as fairweather fans left after finishing what they wanted (i.e. getting to 60 or clearing MC).

Classic is an excellent addition to the WoW family. TBC will further add a massive influx of subscriptions into the franchise with a likely WOTLK to follow up and with Shadowlands around the corner - the future is bright for WoW!

ZG dropping this week with AQ20/40 on the horizon and of course the opportunity to raid NAXX which 99% of players will not have experienced outside of the WOTLK version. I'd expect to see TBC drop within 12 months to similar fan-fare that classic received although a potentially reduced drop off as an improved PvP experiences retains a much higher number of players.

Looking forward to Shadowlands of course - although reading some of the negativity already on these forums makes me worried. That said these forums have turned into an unmoderated winge-fest of hate and malcontent.

Say it to my server. Every evening que 1-2 hours :P And TBH classic is more enjoyable than retail these days. Ive plaved both for a few monhts. BfA is ok for a short term like 2-3 weeks. Classic is long range fun.
