Let's name some useles characters.

JAINA:
I watched the broken shore cinematic again where varian got killed. And it hit me, there are so many useles characters which blizzard writes to get their agenda done. Why did this come up, well.... During the broken shore, Jaina makes a bridge and then varian got killed. So did she got out of combat, used a heart stone and peace out? She has the second strongest staff and just didn't do anything, while at lordaeron she finally did something, she iced everything, so why not do it for your childhood friend? What odd reason will blizzard give? Training,? Oh please.

Malfurion:
Guy is basically the strongest mortal but wasn't at the broken shore to push back the legion.

Varian:
Dude, you could have gone to the nightborne and moongaurd and bring them into the alliance to fight the legion. Make suramar the command center.

Tyrande gets a pass cuz she she is useless incarnate.

Thrall:
Getting depressed for killing garrosh, dude, he was nuts.

Jarod shadowsong:
Always refuses to lead the night elfs and look what happens now. Varian dead, moongaurd almost wiped out, Ysera dead, teldrassil became a campfire. Dude! How much destruction does there have to happen before you take lead! War of the ancients big!

Anduin:
Not even going there.

You're not posting useless characters, but the ones you just don't like. Saying that Varian is an useless character is just wrong.

I agree Jarod is useless, saving him constantly and his one character trait being 'lacks confidence' doesn't scream greatest night elf general who ever lived.

Also, you know the nightborne were working with the legion right? It was happenstance we founded the Dusk lilly rebellion

I can't help but point out that all of your reasons for deeming this characters "useless" are not really based on anything but your personal feelings about them. Like, you Varian is useless because he didn't bring the Nightborne into the Alliance... and Varian died way before we even found out the Nightborne even existed.


Your reasoning for deeming Jarod Shadowsong doesn't make sense, your reasoning for deeming Thrall useless is conveniently glossing over his issue with the elements after killing Garrosh...

All of the characters you listed are meh, or outright obnoxious - but far from useless. Especially when it comes to Anduin and his auntie, given how the whole expansion has revolved around them (and Sylvanas).

I mean:

Jaina = Most powerful female mage

When the story dictates it, otherwise she forgets she can teleport a significant number of people when it would be helpful to do so, ollies out of the story only to come back later and complain it was other people's fault she did nothing and don't get me started on the ridiculousness that is the "Pride of Kul'tiras".

Varian = Single handedly destroyed a fel reaver, beat Garrosh in a 1v1 every time it happened, arguably the greatest ever warrior, certainly the best human fighter ever

He also failed to heed a call for retreat and unnecessarily sacrificed himself to damage the Fel Reaver when the ships guns were pointed directly at it's face.

Malfurion = Literally saved the world

"TYRANDE MY LOVE, WHERE ARE YOU!!!!" Also Teldrassil.

Tyrande = Literally helped save the world, led the Night Elves successfully for thousands of years

10,000 years of doing nothing only to get bodied by the Legion before having to team up with Orcs and Humans.

Thrall = Essentially became aspect of earth, stopped Deathwing

Remind me, who put the squealing fragments of Thrall back together and helped acquire the Dragon Soul so he could sub in and take the glory at the end?

Jarod Shadowsong = Saved Huln Highmountain, the Ancients willingly served under him in battle

Yes Jarod is cool I'll agree with this. Just wish he would take a more active role now.

Anduin = Won the fourth War, Destroyed the Divine Bell, Led the Alliance to victory during the Second Legion Invasion

Anduin didn't do anything for the whole of the War and got blocked by Sylvanas screwing herself over, the Divine Bell was quickly discovered to be useless after the first transformation and Anduin ended up crushing himself (but of course he got better instantly) when he broke it and don't you mean Velen did that?

All she did was freeze the floor so the fumes couldn't come trough the floow.
What good would that do fighting an enemy who doesn't care about cold?
Also; you implying a mage needs a hearthstone somewhat shows how much you know about her.

You are mistaking poor writing for uselessness. Blizz screws up characters by having too many story beats occuring out of game and only existing in game to make something happen when needed.
