It kinda clicked for me how much harm 8.3 caused to my view of WoW as a game. I mean, let's all face it, all those failed systems that needed "a fix" and those fixes being piled up on top of each other culminating in the ultimate AH fiesta of BOE sales is just something that is so far away from what World of Warcraft used to be, that if you try and trace lines between TBC/Wotlk and BFA you just will not find any.
Right now WoW feels and plays like one of those chinese knockoffs that you find in the Android App store that steals someone else's art, artstyle, assets and everything else, then mash into something that has absolutely nothing to do with the original game and then slap a bunch of metric-based cash-shop systems with lots of "buy now!" and weird shit all over it.
Many people are super hyped for Shadowlands, but there might be a reason why the only thing left out of the player's eyes right now are the so called "systems". One of the reasons, the good one, is that they're still polishing it up and basing those in the learnings of the wrongs that they did during BFA. The other reason, and the more likely one, is that they are simply not wanting to show those because they are aware that those are harmful to the overall enjoyment of the game, and are just once again arbitrary systems designed with the sole intent of raising metrics and not necessarily of being enjoyable.
Just think about it: They could have fixed 8.3, they know exactly what they should and could have done, but did they do it? Why the corruption vendor only came in so late when it was obviously a necessity from the get-go? Why the rotation on the vendors? Why the essences werent made account wide as soon as 8.3 came out? Do you honestly believe blizzard cares about fixing what they did in WC3:Reforged like other companies did with No man's sky, Sea of thieves and maybe what Valve is trying to do with Artifact?
All those things just give me the itch, and are things that would never have crossed my mind while I played Blizzard games 10 years ago. I no longer trust whatever it is that they are doing
