What happened to "No stat squish"?

I thought Blizzard explicitly promised no stat squish in Shadowlands. Only level squish, but looks there was a massive stat squish. When did that change?

I mean, you're losing 70 levels, you're going to lose some stats.

Sorta difficult to not have a stat squish while you’re squishing the levels, as the stats are also affected.

lol wasn't there one only just in BFA?
fuck it, let's just do it every expansion
get rid of the illusion of progression entirely

no, that's not how it works

they can simply change the number of the levels

    120 becomes 50

    no stats need to change

like OP even said, they explicitly said no stats would change, and when the playerbase asked how that could be the case, they assured us that no stats need to be squished

That's not the way they decided to do it.

    1. That wasn't what I was addressing in my post. I was addressing whether it was possible to do. Stop moving the goalposts. What they decided to do was not what I was addressing

    2. It is not even true. They said they wouldn't change any stats.

There is no stat squish, level 50s will continue to have the stats of level 50s.

However level 120s will become level 50 ... that is - a level squish.

Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.

But there is now, and they didn't say why.

Actually, squishing required an extra step. Not squishing would have been easier.

I can't imagine why the game would need a stat squish when dps only went up 543% in one expansion.

Yes, there is a squish. Max level characters will be weaker after 9.0 than in 8.3.

Whether that max level is 50 or 120 does not matter.

But there isn't, you lost 70 levels and they decided to give you stats similar to that of a level 50 instead of keeping your base 120 stats.

Looks like they may have brought ilvl down to a similar level, but I'm not in alpha to test.

Stat squishing means something of similar ilvl will have less stats after the squish, this is not the case as far as I can tell bumming around wowhead's SL pages.

They said there wouldn't be one and there will be. Now fuck off retard, learn to read.

No, stat squishing means your character will have less stats. Not items of a certain iLvl, especially since the iLvl gets changed as part of the squish.

Back at BlizzCon Blizzard said you'd have the same stats and damage at BfA levelcap after 9.0 as you did before, only your level would change.

I mean, I'm not the one who can't tell the difference between a level/ilvl squish and a stat squish.

Did you really expect to be level 50 rocking 120 base stats and 500 ilvl gear?

There was no stat squish, your level is lower and with it the ilvl is lower. (Like blue pvp gear is ilvl 175)

    Blizzard quote:
There will not be a stat squish. It's very important that players feel just as powerful when they log in to play the expansion.
Nothing else about it since then and yet, there is a stat squish now.

This thread is a perfect example of why the players shouldn't make any decisions regarding the games development. At least half of you have absolutely no fucking clue what you are talking about, and yet some of you have been seen in other threads trying to dictate the future of the game.

They have time to change their mind again - won't be out until early 2021, and they will use corona as an excuse. #SL2021

It's not a stat squish, it's an ilvl squish. During blizzcon the characters still had near BfA ilvls even though they were 50, they have since changed that.

However a current ilvl 78 item has the same dps as an ilvl 78 item from Eternal palace on alpha, stats were not squished but ilvl was brought down.

It looks like they held to their promise. You will be dropping from level 120 to 50 at the start. You will have stats that reflect you are now lvl 50. When you get to level 120 again, if ever, your stats will be god-like once more.
