I don't know about chains as a whole, but I never understood the hype around the McRib... I tried one once, and it just tasted like high school cafeteria food. Their burgers at least taste slightly less like super-processed nonsense.

Quite the contrary, I think McDonalds is kinda underrated. I mean...it's still as shitty fast food as in all the other stores, but it's not as bad as it's often made out to be.

They are like humans in a run-of-the-mill game with different races: The boring average people that are not particulary good in anything but also not particulary bad.

I really don't eat out that often. Maybe 2-4 Times a month lately. Before corona I hadn't eaten fast food for like 3-4 years. (I would get pizza or Chinese food occasionally or my office would supply catered food.)

I think most recently I had Chic Filet in March when going to an airport and not having a chance to cook that day. The chicken sandwich was tiny and expensive for what it was, and it didn't even taste that good. Chic Filet used to be good years ago.

Stopped visiting fast food restaurants decades ago. Was funny when they started calling themselves "Restaurants" which was normally a name reserved for posher places.

So in that sense yeah they're all overrated.

I'd say Sonic is very overrated.

I think KFC has improved in the past few years, so they are underrated.

As for the others, most have one or two things that are quite good, and a whole lot of shit to fill it out.
