No. A spiecies disappear when they have nothing to eat or get eaten by predators or from decease not because some evolve to something else. It could happen miles apart as well. One group evolve, one does not and they have no interaction with eachother during that time. Then when they're two spieces instead of one they can interact "safely".

not sure if this is a "troll" thread. haha. but the trolls night elves have evolved from are basically gone, I think there's one singular dark troll left. they were a specific tribe that was located where the nightwell was, absorbing it's magics and evolving over the years. All of the other trolls were nowhere near such a source of power and thus never evolved into that form, although you can see how darkspear trolls and frost trolls and zandalari trolls also differ from eachother.

First off only the DARK TROLLS turned into Night Elves..so one species of trolls is the forefather of the elves we know today

Second off to put it simply a couple of trolls found their way to a toxic waste dump (The Well of Eternity) and essentially mutated over time into Elves..that's why we still have Dark Trolls DESPITE a bunch of them EVENTUALLY mutating fully into elves...a bunch of those night elves moving on to what is now Silvermoon to the Sunwell is why the eventually turned into the pale High Elves we know today...some of those elves then got into yet another Toxic Waste dump (Fel) and became blood elves a few mutating even further

That's not how evolution works. Trees don't evolve into houses. Evolution is a process by which certain mutations within a species, that give that member of this species an advantage, help that member to pass on his genes, which means he'll outbreed the other members of his species, so over a long time, the species slowly changes. The ones that don't have the advantage die out.

blood elves are still pretty much high elves,their eyes was the only thing that really changed because of the source of their power being different,blood elf isnt rly amutation,it was a symbolic name they took,its not even been that long since it happened

You forgot to mention that it depends on the environment. So one group of trolls might have in evolved in one direction while another group evolved in another direction depending on the given environment.

This is a very thinly veiled "If we evolved from apes, they why are there still apes?". In the case of real life evolution, it's because we both evolved from 'pre apes', not from the apes that are here today. In the case of a fantasy story, it can be anything from 'evolved from different trolls' to 'magic' and any reason you can think of.
