Seems a to be a lot of hub bub recently about this Netflix show Cuties, which I admit is perverse, fucked up and certainly pushing an unhealthy image of children, however considering toddler pageants are not only more popular, but have been around doing relatively the same nonsense with an even younger demographic.

So I posed to you which is worst?

Personally I think Toddlers and Tiara's but I think both of them are pretty fucked up.

Cuties is just people losing their minds because they've discovered effectivley dance mania / ANY dance club is a thing and girls start it at a young age. IE it's an entire generation of men who are virtue signalling.

TLC Toddlers is parents actually abusing their children.

Regarding the Cuties film in Netflix.

From Wikipedia: "According to the filmmakers, the film is intended to criticize the hypersexualisation of pre-adolescent girls". If executed correctly, then I think it might be a good movie. A topic that needs to be discussed.

Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes gave it favorable reviews. I have it on my list and will watch it soon. Until then i'll just ignore most of the outrage in social media from people that haven't even seen the film.

So I vote TLC because it's real. Cuties is (supposed to be) social criticism and the people in it are actors. I also need to brush up on my french and hope it's not all gone. ehhhhh

No, In fact I am not outraged at all, I am perfectly willing to accept both are the same kinds of entertainment, and yes, I think both are just as bad, as for the trailer I haven't taken away anything of any value that would convince me it's about what you're saying.

Well I am speaking only in terms of what they show and what their content seems to display in relation to people calling for Canceling Netflix because of catering to pedophilia.

I don't know from the surface and purely from what is being shown how Cuties is worse especially since Toddlers and Tiara's was on for YEARS, and TLC Still produces content like it.

But this not true, as others have also stated. So Parasite is a film about housekeeping? The details of a story can and should not be part of a trailer. Therefore a film should be measured in total.

Actors or not its still 11 year old kids doing what they are supposedly criticizing including partial nudity of an 11 year old. Either way both shows are horrible in my opinion because either way they parents are doing or are allowing their children to be abused/sexualized.

No I am talking about the content more specifically the visual content, again don't mix this up. I am not outraged about the Netflix show. Or at least I am not any more outraged about that than any other form TV or not where regardless to story or message, under aged are displayed that way.

Meaning I am not especially selecting either for outrage. I am just highlighting the fact some are and pointing out the similarities between Cutie and shows like Toddlers and Tiara's.


Bottom line and specific point here is why are people freaking out about Cuties

It's literally a criticism about the sexualization of young girls so of course it's not an innocent movie and of course it's sexual. That's the whole point!

One is about critiquing exploitation and toxic ideas and behaviour in society much like a ton of other art pieces.

Other is just exploiting kids embracing And promoting the thing the latter is trying to critique.
