I’m a hipster-metalhead, so I chose Horde. Also, I like being perceived as the bad guy when I’m really good. Plus, I don’t want to see male humans or male night elves on my team. They are too concerned about their appearance.

To play with my friends. I've been both Alliance and Horde, but atm I'm Horde.
I saw female Taurens, and that was it. I spent some time coming up with the name, but then I logged into my green-eyed, black female Tauren and first character.
My brother, who introduced me to the game, played Alliance. I had been fed to death with LOTR at that point, and being able to pick "monster" races felt much more unique and interesting than the races I saw on the blue side.
I mostly play Alliance because I find their themes more appealing and the races more three dimensional.
Meanwhile, back on Azeroth, the overwhelming majority of the orcs languished in internment camps. One Orc had a dream. A dream to reunite the disparate souls trapped under the lock and key of the Alliance. So he raided the internment camps, freeing those orcs that he could, and reached out to a downtrodden tribe of trolls to aid him in rebuilding a Horde where orcs could live free of the humans who defeated them so long ago. That orc's name was... Rend.
My friends pretty much chose for me as they had started playing Alliance before I bought the game. However, I would probably have ended up as Alliance anyway as I wanted to play a paladin.
I started playing Alliance because I didn't really understand the factions at first and I had some friends also starting to play. Eventually we tried Horde, and I just liked everything better about them, so I ended up sticking with them. I try to play Alliance again during every expansion but WoD aside (free gold) I've been lucky if I level more than 1 character on Ally side, it just feels wrong now.
In real life i am rather non-standard in many ways, so i settled on the most normal race: human.
It's a bit bland at times, but the subtlety also avoids it becoming cringy, though for whenever i do not care about such things i used to have a female gnome warlock titled "Conqueror of Orgrimmar" or somesuch, just in case someone doubted the evilness of small people... especially if they can summon infernals and cast ruinous magic.
I started on Alliance actually but after one year I changed to Horde to play with friends. Went back to Alliance during WoD but their attitude is too... Hufflepuffy to my taste. Horde fits me much better.
I saw that the horde got raptor mounts and i wanted one.
Because undead are the coolest casters and are just amazing as locks.
Originally I started as alliance because friends from other games but when all that was gone and I rerolled to EU, I had nothing keeping me in alliance.
Even if I didn't reroll at the end of wrath, I most likely would have in wod where I feel the new models/animations did more damage to the races I would have played as alliance .. humans and night elves mostly.
DRAGONMIRE BINGO2024 - 11.0 - The 10th Expansion - The 20th Anniversary of World of WarcraftFor Azeroth!
Can I just say though, that I don't quite like how they're erasing race-specific combat animations for attacks...? It's becoming more and more prevalent, I really used to love how my male Dwarf Shaman looked when using Stormstrike... Now he does the same movement as all the rest.
I was Alliance while on OCE because that's the dominant faction there by far. I tried Alliance when I switched to EU, but people were just awful players. I switched to Horde fairly quickly and noticed a big improvement. When I moved to US, I stuck with Horde for that reason, and have not had any desire to switch to Alliance at any point.
So I wanted
Purple hair
A class that's kind of scoundrel like
My friends were alliance
Hence, a night elf rogue I've been playing for nearly 16 years lol
I picked Horde because I like to be a savage orc or troll putting Alliance heads on pikes. I want to snack on my enemy's corpse as a Forsaken. I like to be the bad guy in games, plus I think the aesthetics look cooler. Alliance is some vanilla, boring, generic ass human honor and valor shit with some random emo elves thrown in.
2 good friends had just started playing at launch, i joined a few days later so just followed the leader. Have played both factions at different times though, and sometimes the same time.
undead master race
Ironically, back when college buddies and I would play WCII in campus computer clusters, I *always* chose orcs. 10 years later, my friends and I picked Alliance without thinking twice -- more typical fantasy themes, perhaps influence from Oblivion.
