Klacik will lose because she ran for the seat in a special election in like Feburary and got her ass kicked by Kweisi Mfume. It was to fill Elijah Cumming seat after he died and, again, she lost badly. She got like 25% of the vote and I'm not sure why she thinks it will be different this time.

She's just a token minority for the GOP to trot out and insist that they aren't racist while they use racist rhetoric and implement racist policies.

    Not surprising.

This thread is a great parable for real life. Republicans try and spread lies. It fails. They try and spread more lies on top. That fails too. But somehow people try and reason with them, which also fails. Resulting in an unholy dumpster fire, which the Republicans then blame everyone else on whilst claiming some amendment has been violated, with them as the victims. Rinse and repeat. And then people wonder why sane folk hate Trump and his Party.

Without Section 230, sites can be held liable for things posted to their system. That doesn't mean you need a moderation team to take things down quickly if they break the site rules or the law, it means the moment anything is posted through your services, you share liability for that message. Some user got upset with site administration after 6 years of being a good user and posted child pornography embedded into his post? That means everyone who owns the site is now responsible for the posting and distribution of child pornography. Even if it's removed and the user banned within 30 seconds of it being posted.
I refreshed my memory on it and that seems to be complete fearmongering. The fact that most defences in intervening years leaned heavily on 230 for protection doesn't mean that without it everyone would be liable for everything ever posted.

Pre-230 results were different. And 230 was based on exactly two cases in 4 year span - it was pro-free-speech amendment to later struck down "Communications Decency Act".

The case that was won by provider was based on "no moderation" - which is standard that is extremely easy to apply by Twitter. In fact, given the other lost case involved pre-moderation (through filters) they would be required to do so - and remove potential of suppression stories like we seen with this topic.

Likewise, you could easily see that MMOC is allowing any postings and definitely doesn't do pre-moderation, thus also keeping it in the clear.

You could also potentially argue volunteer moderators to be distinct from employees, and so see MMOC as a company not moderating their forums at all.

    What "entities", pray tell?

Because the status quo is just that websites are free to manage their own membership, as long as they don't run afoul of contract law (unlikely, if they had a lawyer review their terms before issuing them, and particularly if they aren't charging users directly for access), or protected class legislation (and being an abusive carbunkle is not a protected class).
The purpose of 230 was encouraging free speech on internet (In, as far as i see, a misguided belief that it was just lack of free speech that is stifling spread of Western values).

Using article's protections to defend censorship, especially political censorship, runs counter to article's intent.

No it wasn't. It was made so companies wouldn't be held responsible if some asshat decided to post child porn or other illegal shit on a site. Literally no where in 230 does it say that websites can't moderate the user posted content. That's an invention of butthurt right wing nutters.

Also, libel isn't covered under free speech, so it's not censorship.

That was exact pre-230 legal precedent - if you don't moderate at all you are not held responsible no matter what is posted. Follow the link for historical background.

What prompted article 230 was exactly defamation case lost by provider due to pre-moderation.

    The Cox-Wyden Amendment: Section 230

Worried about the future of free speech online and responding directly to Stratton Oakmont, Representatives Chris Cox (R-CA) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) introduced an amendment to the Communications Decency Act that would end up becoming Section 230.

Did you even read what you linked?

the other was to allow online services to implement their own standards for policing content and provide for child safety.
Like I said, no where in Section 230 does it say that websites can't moderate their content and based on your own link, it was intended for websites to be allowed to moderate content.

I didn't say websites cannot moderate their content either, and neither did court decisions.

The only "provider loss" lawsuit was when website pre-moderated content (even in automated way). If you either don't moderate at all or post-moderate that, by precedent, seems perfectly fine.

And currently Twitter does pre-moderation (as it had "you cannot post this link" message) and MMOC doesn't.

No... based on your previous posts, it’s absolutely impossible to assume anything, based on your posts. Not only that, when demonstrably shown that your sources are lying to you, you double down. Well he does believe the bat-shit crazy idea that the earth is flat, so why would the earth not be triangular and flat rather than circular and flat?

Why would a triangular flat earth be too crazy of an idea, but a circular flat earth be a perfectly acceptable one?

So I wouldn't put it past him.

So a laptop (or laptops) appear in a trump fanatics pawnshop or whatever it was, the guy said it was Hunter who dropped them off but has a medical condition that prevented him from seeing who it was but a bumper sticker=proof of who it was, no one ever returns to pick them up and rather than going to the FBI like you are supposed to do, he goes to....Rudy Giuliani (who has a daughter who said hes facking nuts basically) not to mention the emails appear to be fake or edited in some way...like what kool-aid are you people drinking and what dimension do you go to where this seems even remotely true?

Also, corruption is everywhere, no one is claiming Joe isn't corrupt, it's just a matter of how much are people willing to take and how obvious and carefree he is because the guy right now doesn't give a shit who knows how corrupt he is and he also owes someone lots of money which is pretty dangerous.

Biden’s corruption is in failed policy and shitty takes from decades ago. That’s the normal version of corruption we expect. What Trump is doing, is another level... the type of corruption that’s usually done in board rooms, not court rooms. They are different...

Edit: I’ll borrow Biden’s slogan... their corruption is Scranton vs Park Ave...

The shadow of the Earth on the moon shows a circular shape. Ships on the horizon disappear starting from the bottom slowly until their masts also disappear, because of the curve of the earth. Photographs from satellites, space missions and the ISS show the world is a globe. The Greeks determined the world was round 2500 years ago by measuring the angle of shadows.

    Oh, right . . . the laptop.

Why would a laptop repair guy be incapable of recognizing Hunter Biden in purpose, but also be capable of recognizing it's his laptop because of a sticker on it? Why would he be illegally accessing its hard drive? Why would Hunter go all the way to Delaware to turn in a laptop and never return for it? Why would the repair guy go to Giuliani of all people?

Biden was VP, he can’t just disappear to go to a secret meeting. Their schedule shows he couldn’t have attended the meeting those fake emails suggest. It’s a plot from Scooby doo... and Giuliani would be able to get away with it, if it weren’t for those pesky kids Twitter and Facebook... and their dog TikTok too...

Some text messages from the Hunter Biden hack by the Russians. I don't know if the GOP realises this, but showing Joe Biden as a comforting father...is a good thing. This is pretty much what the US Intelligence said. Legitimate stuff mixed with fabricated content.

Side note, as someone whose Dad is a total fucking chode, this is really hit me in the feels.

A Conservative sharing a similar opinion about a black female would likely be labeled as a racist. Of course we all know that the "tolerant" left only supports those who agree with their views. I'm guessing that you think that Biden's claims that black people who don't vote for him aren't truly black are also okay. SMH.

    Edit: Typo.
Let me be more clear: any movement that claims the GOP is more of an ally to poor, inner city African Americans than Democrats is farcical. This is why Owens has to pay for black folks to show up at her rallies, and why Russian troll farms are needed on Twitter to amplify her message.

As for some other topics: 1) I didn't watch this Chinese video, but if the gist of it is that China had this info 3 weeks ago: well, no duh. Giuliani WAS IN UKRAINE IN DEC THE YEAR BEFORE THIS LAPTOP WAS DISCOVERED, MEETING WITH RUSSIAN INTELLIGENCE. This intelligence has probably existed since then, because, guess what, the same month Giuliani came back was supposedly the same month this magical laptop was dropped off across the country in Delaware. And if China discovered it? Guess what, they'd probably leverage it against Biden too, because THEY WANT A TRUMP WHITE HOUSE as well, seeing how thoroughly they've trashed Trump in international economic actions.

    2) The EMail above linked by @Daara a) doesn't mention laptops at all, and b) was written when the story broke, presumably so Hunter Biden's lawyers could prepare to sue the shit out of these people. All it asks for is for the computer repair guy to "review his records," likely for a soon forthcoming subpoena. Jesus Christ how obtuse do you have to be.
