I didn't ignore what you said. I pointed out it was baseless hokum. Which it was.
The "American Dream" was never originally about selfish self-interest and becoming rich and wealthy, in its origins. It was about making the best life for yourself, and part of that included giving back to the nation that supported you. A "dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement", so to speak.
When that got twisted into naked self-interest and "fuck you, I got mine" in the '80s and thereafter, yeah. That was propaganda delivered by the wealthy, to destroy what America had stood for and to replace it with a diseased new "dream". Literally the point, here.
