    4 factions

If there were 4 factions, like the 4 Shadowlands covenants, in the manner of Warcraft 3 factions, who would you assign to each faction?
I would do it something like this:

    Alliance (Kyrian)

Human - an obvious choice, as they are the iconic race who founded the Alliance.

Dwarf - another obvious choice, as they are close allies of the Humans.

Gnome - just as Dwarves and Humans have a close bond, so do Gnomes and Dwarves. The two go together.

Draenei - their faith in the Light can only put them on good terms with the Alliance.

Kul Tiran Human - since they are part of a Human Kingdom, they fit well with the Alliance.

Dark Iron Dwarf - although quite different from the other Alliance races, they were inducted into the faction by Moira, who is a Bronzebeard Dwarf.

Mechagnome - as they were introduced into the Alliance by the Gnomes themselves, their place is with their brethren.

Lightforged Draenei - Much like the Drained themselves, their fanaticism can only mesh well with the Alliance.

Void elf - as they are the High elf solution to the Alliance side, they fit within it despite their Void powers.

    Horde (Necrolords)

Orc - an obvious choice, as they are the iconic race that formed the Horde.

Tauren - their shamanistic ways connect them to the Orcs and, therefore, to the Horde.

Troll - Same as with the Tauren, their shamanistic culture connects them to the Orcs and to the Horde.

Goblin - as they were introduced into the Horde by the Orcs, during Cataclysm, they fit among its ranks.

Mag'har orc - as they were brought in to the faction by their greenskin brethren, they belong within the Horde.

Highmountain Tauren - as they were recruited by their Kalimdor cousins, the Bloodhoof Tauren, they belong in the Horde alongside them.

Zandalari Troll - their Voodoo and Loa culture, as well as their relations with their Troll offshoots, places them within the Horde.

Vulpera - these guys, like the Goblins, are clever and cunning, suffered from slavery, and are a simple people.

    Sentinels (Night Fae)

Night elf - an obvious choice, as they are the iconic race, responsible for the creation of the Sentinels.

Worgen - although part of a human nation, they were introduced to the Alliance by the Night elves, were accepted to the sentinel army, and are very close to druidism, with their Worgen curse.

Pandaren - Although mostly neutral, they were close allies to the Night elves before the sundering and do appreciate nature as they do.

    Scourge (Venthyr)

Blood elf - as they share many traits with the Venthyr, they are a quintessential race to this faction.

Forsaken - they had some connections to the Blood elves through their former leader, Sylvanas. Plus, as former members of the scourge, they fit the faction well.

Nightborne - since they share a common ground with the Blood elves in many aspects, they belong with them.
