If he comes out like that now, he could potentially shoot himself in the foot in a way that hinders his entire administration heavily for years and gives McConnell a huge win.

With things the way they are, he has a chance of taking the Senate from Moscow Mitch at which point they can actually push for stuff. So we can't really say for sure which way that will go. Remember this is Georgia we are talking about here, so not wanting to give the Republicans any legit ammo to include with their lies.
If those people want to act out way because Biden (or anyone for that matter) is attempting to secure much needed aid, then that's on the conscience of those people.

What is not good is the lack of trying because some people 'might' throw a hissy fit. The message is simple,

"Republicans are officially on record blocking the aid that millions of Americans need right now. We can that by making sure we take back the Senate in the Georgia runoff. Get out an vote, because it is not just the future of Georgia we're talking about, it's the future of countless Americans for next foreseeable years. I'm Joe Biden and I approve this message. "

Not," If we say nothing maybe the Republicans will forget the majority and vote for a Democrat this time." It's passive insanity.

    Fuck this asshole.
Naw, not really. I generally support not holding some legislation hostage in order to try to force another to pass, or in this case at least get voted down pointlessly.

That money, even if we can argue it's too much and going to dumb shit, is hugely important for a ton of folks whose jobs rely on the defense bill. That pays for a ton of American jobs, and I'd rather they not lose money and work because a liberal decided that hurting "a few" was the best way to get money for everyone.

Why not though is the question I have.

So we vote on the defence bill and then....... go back to what?

Gotta love that reach across the aisle bullshit.

Where's the progressive liaison for the Biden administration?

They'll be paid on the first, Winter Blossom who's a military wife already said as such. This is something that can easily be held until the 2nd before congress adjourns for the new session on the third. hold this shit up, keep loeffler and purdue in DC instead of campaigning in GA, voting tomorrow just let's McConnell successfully shield them. It's just surrending while gaining nothing.

The problem with Cosplay Socialists, they're too busy online and not understanding how senate rules work. Hint; they're more complicated than Iowa Caucus rules.

As expected McConnell attaches a poison pill to the $2000 checks because, as has been clear from the start, the GOP doesn't actually want it to pass. McConnell, before Senate adjournment, started the Rule 14 process to get 2 bills onto the calendar - the House-passed $2,000 bill and:

"S.5085, to increase the additional 2020 recovery rebates, to repeal section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934, and for other purposes."

If you got gaffled by Iowa or South Carolina Democrats in the primary ... how de fuck do you expect to outsmart McConnell?

Instead of bashing Nancy all the time, maybe take some notes.

We can't force McConnell to hold a vote. But we absolutely HAVE to make it as expensive as possible for him to stand his ground. And Biden absolutely has to chime in.

He is NOT "just another American citizen". He is the President Elect, and will be President in less than a month. His voice matters a lot. Either he is willing to stand up to McConnell or he is not. This is absolutely definitely the time to stand up.

It ain't happenin, sadly. Because it's not in the authority of the president-elect to do anything. McConnell controls the Senate, the best Democrats can do is the Sanders push to delay the defense veto override to force a vote on the $2K checks...but that ain't happenin since McConnell just added a poison pill that's completely unrelated that he knows Democrats won't vote for, while also attaching something Trump actually wants.

Don't get me wrong, I wish Biden would realize that "ye olden days" of both sides working on compromises is long dead and that Republicans have exhibited no evidence that they have any desire to govern or work together in good faith. I wish he'd go hard, realizing that there isn't some secret "silent majority" of Republicans in Congress that just want to get back to normal.

If you think he'd put any pressure on McConnell that hasn't already been put on him by business interests, constituents, lobbyists, politicians from all sides of the isle, media etc. etc. then I don't know what to tell you.
I find it weird how democrats old democrats talk about these old days when they could reach across the aisle. Like you mean back when both sides were shitty and mostly just had opinions on economic differences but were still morally on the wrong side of race issues and gay rights issues and women's issues? Those good old days?

The problem is now the democrat party has moved towards being centrist instead of right wing and the right wing republicans have gone into facism... but the good old days weren't good, they were horrible for anyone that wasn't a white straight man.

What if I told you that they are not compromising, but taking the scraps they can?

Will you be pissed if democrats don’t vote for 2k, now that it includes repeal of 230? Is this compromise or being dominated?

    Not just Social Media....

Kiss youtube(et all video sites) and every single forum goodbye.
    No more comments sections, poof.

god just on my list a lot websites that would see most of their content evaporate overnight since its user/independently posted.

99% of your search sites would be down for months trying to figure out how to limit their liability.
Stocks that make up 30% of the total stock market value would crash overnight. The snowball wouldn't stop for weeks.

Hard to move to the EU when 60-70% of your revenue disappears overnight and your companies value gets cut in half almost instantly.

Just google by itself could power a market crash we have not seen in since 1987.

Loaffer and Perdue would be crazy to come out not supporting it. Even if it did go to a vote and did not pass. They would be on record saying "Vote for me! I'd have voted for it!"

Yeah I am including those. I've been buying my meats mostly from local NJ stores. Or Local manufacturers. For instance, I buy sausages from this place that distributes out of Hoboken and isn't owned by another large company.

I am not talking about the bill in that quote but specifically Biden. his cabinet, his idea that we much reach out to the right while simultaneously slapping the left. I understand poison pills so no I wouldn't be pissed.
